Anybody who’s visits Teamliquid with any regularity probably know of Torte de Lini at least vaguely. Why ? Because if you’ve made a post here at any point since he joined in September of 2010, Torte probably replied to it. And if he didn’t, you can trust that he either wrote up a response and deleted it or, realizing that his comment was too great, just wrote it on a Post-it and stuck it to his desk so TL didn’t implode. The guy averages 827 posts per day !
Actually that wasn’t true, but lying was the only way to make the real number of 33 posts per day sound even a little bit reasonable. But the really messed up part is that remarkably few of these posts are in Live Report threads. This means that most of those eighteen goddamn thousand posts are real posts and not just subtle variations of “SO MANY BANELINGS !” or “THAT WAS SO SICK !”
Managing to not only read every post ever no matter what but also to comment on all of them is pretty impressive (though your definition of “impressive” may vary) but he doesn’t stop there. As of February 7th of 2012, the guy is the team manager of Quantic Gaming. This means he gets to high-five Naniwa ! But as far as I know, there was no big announcement of this because Torte de Lini doesn’t yell his accomplishments off of high mountains. Instead, he sits back and does his thing while simultaneously choking bears and fending off alien invaders.
“Oh that’s kinda cool but what else does he do or has he done in the past?”
If you do ask that, you’re a bit of a douche, but I’m gonna answer it anyway. According to the wiretap I placed on Torte’s phone, “I founded and organize BarCraft Montreal, I managed VT Gaming, Team Dynamic and now Quantic. I've done over 50 articles for ESFI SC2 and a little of Dota 2 and I also do some casual commentary for Montreal's biggest LAN: LAN ETS. I've helped and founded two major local university StarCraft clubs, one which is funded annually by our student union (Concordia, UQAM's club I help do but I'm not sure how they are now).”
Yes I agree that it was a bit of a weird thing for him to say on the phone to his aunt (citation needed) but you get the idea ! That’s a ton of shit !
“Yeah thats great but I could do the same if I had no school/job and could commit all my time to ESPORTS.”
Okay, hypothetical jackass, you need to stop with the jackassery. But you’re still wrong ! (Bam. Nailed you, fake guy). Torte is a student somewhere (sorry, my stalking is still incomplete) studying sociology while doing all this other stuff.
Currently I have two possible explanations for how he does what he does. 1) He invented some sort of time control device but was too modest to tell the rest of us; or 2) He sleeps 4 hours a day and his day lasts for 35 hours
So cheers to Torte de Lini, one of the unsung heroes of ESPORTS !
All my information about Torte de Lini comes from my illegal wiretap, from hiding in the bushes outside his house, and from asking him via private messages on TL. Two of those things aren’t true but I’ll never tell which.
I always try to read and post in Torte's blog. He usually writes some of the more interesting stuff in the section, although you're usually guaranteed a long read. He's only posted in mine maybe once :\
18000 posts, I have no idea how he does it. Probably because he's made of pasta...all those carbs... And doesn't he go to McGill? (just assuming from Montreal)
He didn't manage VT Gaming, he was just a staff member. Love the guy none the less. + Show Spoiler +
I'm pretty sure he was Mirhi's errand boy
<3
If you want to add a rumors section to the OP it is RUMORED that he has a quad monitor setup with 33 instances of TL open at a time so he can read every post of every thread ever started... AT THE SAME TIME!
Wow I wasn't aware Torte did so much in the community, TBH I thought he was just sort of a spam poster, as he joined like 20 days before I did but has like 18000 posts compared to my nearly 500. It's really nice to see him getting involved like that, and in such a reputable position. Congrats Torte.
I think he replied to the first post I've ever made on TL. I remember quite clearly that it was very positive and that it made me feel welcome here.
Ever since then, I've been following what he's been doing and he's even followed the stuff I've been doing. Since the beginning. That's quite extraordinary in my opinion.
My TL.net experience was definitely shaped by Torte De Lini.
Oi! You made a blog about me? This is awfully sweet! I truly appreciate it. Let me go through some of the comments!

No, I did manage the team by setting up calendar dates for their tournaments, making sure they signed up. This was when Zerker won his first ESL (Go4SC2 I believe), when HuK had just left and recently joined Millenium. I was managing: Moo, Attero, Godder, Clonze, Zerker, Whiplash. I think you would know above all Arlock (shoutout to GenocideRun) : P The Nation Voice sponsor was due to collaborative efforts with Frank. I also helped with VT Gaming's first Open Tournament (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=156660). I was also learning the ropes on how to approach companies into becoming potential sponsors for the team.
It's because of managing VT Gaming with their players that Attero later approached me to help manage Team Dynamic (previously known as Dream Vision Gaming). Frank ultimately taught me a lot and really gave me a shot when I was first getting into the scene.

Actually yeah, disregard my last post and go with this: I hate him too. He always reminds me of the tortellini I have in my cupboard in the kitchen. There are only few things more annoying than trying to enjoy your daily TL fix while being reminded of the fact that you are extremely hungry.
It's all your fault Torte De Lini. I demand a name change or ban to increase the well-being of the general TL.net user.

Thanks a lot for the warm hearts guys! I really appreciate it! Sheth lead me to this topic and some of the guys on Quantic! I really appreciate you guys and to be honest, I've had some trouble fitting into this community, but overall I really liked this community over the many others I've been with (usually because there's a severe rule on flaming, so no one really hates me enough to shit on me and take the ban to the face : P).
BarCraft Montreal is mainly thanks to the guys at Cyberactiv.ca (Charles & Roch), Marko from Club1234 and as for ESFI: Brent, Thomas, Anne, John, Derek, Jacqueline, Marky, Michael T., Thomas, Sue [Smix], Danny and Philip [Dota 2]. Quantic: Brad/QuanticLefty, All my players: Destiny, TheOgnis, Apocalypse, Shuffle, Flo, NaNiwa, SaSe, iNKa, Agh, Briana/FaytRose, Yuna, Mark, Axeltoss, Ben/Fograw, Nicholas Seo. Attero was a huge help and an important player to consider and so many other people T___T (CSC guys: Half, Yoda, Patrick/Yorku, BobMoo, Dai, Phil, Yoshua, Monsty, Maniac, Nirano, Tam Vu) and of course the staff at TL who are really tolerant of me from my incessant annoying beginnings to my over-zealous comfortability haha
Yes, I am studying Sociology at the moment, but anyone can tell you it's a pretty easy degree if you can write and ramble on! I post a lot because I enjoy conversing with people and I feel you're not really with the community if you don't post your opinion/views/excitement about it somewhere or with them. I like being known as a community member. Being a part of a lot of great people, is a good feeling. Feeling like you belong.
That's it, I don't want make a blog within a blog now :B (my twitter is @TorteDeLini, but I posted everyone I thanked with their Twitter names as well I believe. At least those I remember). Don't forget to learn about how to use TL to its maximum with this guide! http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=269873
*(hoping I get a job with similar tasks as this, I absolutely adore everything I do with everyone)

March 11, 7:03--> blog is posted March 11, 7:47--> Torte responds.
Social experiment complete. Nothing to see here folks. Also, I was hoping this would be a blog announcing that Torte's posts were going to start going down like haji's ^_^

Torte was the first guy i learned to recognize by name here on TL. But yeah, everytime I browse a new topic I always check to see whether he's on the first page of responses... which he is 90% of the time. <3
I always saw Torte around the forums and recently got to know him a bit over the past few months, pretty cool guy and having some big roles on some big teams, helped me out a bunch of times .
I still think FrozenArbiter has the only really impressive posting history on TL. He was posting like a madman when there were like 1/10th of the amount of threads there are now. Also Torte is new to the site but I really like what he does so ♥.
Omnipresent?! Torte was even a referee for TB's Monobattles Tournament. That must be because they let him keep the magical hourglass at the end of the 3rd movie. I bet!

I'd venture a guess that he was allowed in because of the whole managing Quantic thing, but your idea is good too !
So why are we still referring to TDL as "he"? Did all your visual cortexes get abracadabra'd by her, uh, magical magic?
I contemplated that this mythical TDL identity was, in fact, an amalgamation of juxtapositions of conjugations of multiple instances of sentient extra-terrestrial life. But I see no way that any of that made any sense, and how such beings would have such excellent grasp of the most flowery and meaningless and convoluted yet beautiful English.

Or maybe he is an AI, that makes sense too.
I liked how you said "he" at the end. Got you too, I suppose
Torte was the first member I remembered the name of, probably because I seen him in a lot of threads - some of my own, too. I just remembered that "Where is Torte de Lini" blog from a while back, now.
I make it a point when i'm reading through threads to read the posts by people like Torte that post as much as they do. They are usually level headed, thoughtful, or intelligent so I tend to try and soak up some of that knowledge. Part of the reason I don't really post that often is because these people will say whatever I want to say for me. Just know that your input is appreciated by at least one random lurker. Ha.

mmmmm actually.... :D
Either way <3 to the Torte di Lini, TL's officialy pasta dish.
