As a first blog post on TL, I would first like to say what a great community of gamers this website brings together. I haven't really seen a group of people who are so committed to making themselves the best they can be, offer help and support to others and be critical and helpful in making suggestions and improvements. TL, I salute thee!
Anyway, I would like to begin documenting my experience with Starcraft 2 from the point of view of someone who is completely new to the RTS scene. The only experience I have had, previously, with an RTS was Age of Empires 2. While I enjoyed the game greatly, I was never skilled to any measurable point, so my experience was purely limited to single player. Unfortunately, another drawback to my play style at the time caused the game to follow the same kind of pattern: start out, develop, get huge army, hope it out masses other guy's army, go kill army or be killed. That was it. No more, no less.
Now, having seen some starcraft from Brood War tournaments and such online all these years later, my mind was completely opened to the possibilities with an RTS game. Strategies, build orders, micro, macro, etc. became new concepts to learn and put into practice. I was excited to slake my RTS thirst with starcraft 2 not only because of how it related to all the progaming I had seen, but also because of its vast popularity. The only problem was, and still is, I was never any good in the first place. I'm at a point though where I have made a conscious decision to play the game and attempt to get better, and hopefully, further enjoy the game at higher skill levels.
That is where I would like to begin this blog and update it with posts with all kinds of experiences that I will have as I venture through the world of RTS. Also, as a supplement to the blog, I have a stream on justin.tv where I will conducting all my games and also providing some thought by thought speaking to myself, so everyone will see just how crazy I am =D. I have yet to make up a schedule, set aside days, for the streaming, but it's something I am excited about and can't wait to start on. Until then, go easy on the noob....please.
I apologize for my poor writing as blog posts seem to be more of a off-the-top-of-my-head king of writing. At any rate, if you did read through this post, I thank you tremendously, and if you are willing to read more...what the hell are you smoking? However, in all seriousness, thank you.
