And his weakest stat, speed, was the least important one, so he had overall better stats than the other two. And btw you could easily rape Brock with Charmander using Ember. Maybe a potion was required, but still, easy business. Speed is actually quite important so i don't know what you are talking about lol. It was even more important in RBY cause it affected crit afaik. Competitively Charmander has always been the best out of the RBY starters.

Though Grass-types are some of the weakest out there, I've been Bulbasaur fan since forever. Razor Leaf had a pretty good crit chance, and Sleep Powder was one of the best disabling moves there was. I also think the Gen I sprites for the Bulbasaur family looked better than the others overall.

Charmander is clearly the favourite here, everyone loves Charizard. Especially cause of the card game -> has 3x Shining Charizard from Neo Destiny. Yeah Starmie is imba, but like MMOs just grind levels to victory. PS: The only thing more dreamy than Milkis discussing BW is when he discusses Pokemon. Clearly an Ace Trainer irl.

Charmander wouldn't do too terribly against them, especially after inflicting Burn which halves Attack. Also, IIRC the reason Charizard got moved to NU was because of that pesky Stealth Rock in Gen IV. Taking 50% damage every time it switched in was NOT good for him =( Though Grass-types are some of the weakest out there, I've been Bulbasaur fan since forever. As far as I know, if you were to play competitive pokémon you should not be using starters, so who cares. And I didn't know about the crit rate boost lol pretty cool

Bottom line is that they're all pretty bad but Squirtle is the coolest. Can you please explain to me what exactly competitive pokemon is? I was under the impression that because Pokemon is a turn based game with only one right way to play (use the strongest move and make sure you pokemon is the right element), actual gameplay input is extremely limited. I mean what can you do that someone who's read a comprehensive guide to competitive pokemon in 10 minutes can't do in a pokemon battle?

I actually remember using butterfree as well but I cant think of what he did. I can only remember it having tackle, assuming you trained from a caterpie. I'm thinking it had some sort of status powder thing but that still wouldnt help kill shit. Confusion, learnt at level 12. But Butterfree was only really necessary in Yellow where you only had Pikachu (alternatively, Nidoran works too). When I first played Yellow I beat Brock by using Sand Attack lots and Leer into mass Tackling lol...

Neither rock nor ground have any resistance and psychic-types were imba in general in Gen I so it was the obvious choice.

EDIT: blastoise is the most badass pokemon and ice beam is the most badass attack. Easy choice imo.
