geez its been so long since I played the original.. but I think I chose Squirtle.. I remember my friend choosing Charmander, and I didnt like bulbasaur so I musta chose Squirtle lol..

Definitely Charmander because it gave you access to fire type moves quicker. Bulbasaur's moveset is easily substituted with bellsprout which can be found very early in the game, and there are tons of alternative water type pokemon to choose from. The only early fire alternative to charmander is vulpix/growlithe and both of those need to stay unevolved until they've learned their movesets.

Squirtle is the wisest choice. There are arguments for Bulbasaur, but only a masochist would choose Charmander. SQUIRTLE FOR LIFE.

You just listed why I love Squirtle, other than the fact that it's a cute turtle~

But perhaps the biggest reason why people love Squirtle so much is because it can evolve into the badass-looking Blastoise as well as learn both Ice Beam and Hydro Pump; this allows it to fuck both Venusaur and Charizard like it's on a Disneyland excursion

Charmander fuck yeah. No Pokemon looks angrier and more badass than a fully evolved Charizard spewing fire in the old Pokemon games. Squirte is downright useless post-Brock except to ride it around in the water, and Bulbasaur keeps trying to learn a bunch of powders.

The Char family can learn rage, slash, flamethrower, firespin. These were Pokemon evolved to kill. Death by righteous fire.

Always pick fire pokemon and Charmander/Chameleon/Charizard have been my most favorite pokemon since I first got the game! I went through blue by mostly only using Charmander, Misty was a bitch though, but overleveled Charmeleon got the job done.

I can support both charmander and Squirtle, but i really want to know why people like bulbasaur? I always picked squirtle because i had the blue version so i thought it would make him stronger, or charmander because, well he was a freaking dragon, plus i had his pokemon card so eff ya! but can people who chose bulbasaur explain why they like him, besides having an easy ride for the first 4 gyms?

From competitive point of view: They all suck. But I've always had a venusaur in my UU teams.
From fanboy point of view: Fire Starters <33333333 I like them all and I always pick them.
