Well right now i have the money to support myself, plus i'll have some income coming from my blogspot blog (hopefully), thats why i'll post a lot of stuff on my blogspot blog. to get ad revenue, but making money is very low on my to-do list and as long as i have money to survive there (i do currently) i'll be fine.

Onetels/Goshiwons are a good option for short term stays. They're cheap, all inclusive when it comes to utility bills and they don't care how long you stay for.

' i even plan on trying to convince hite to let me do a tour (photographed of course) of their house.' Without a very good command of Korean and some connections within the management/esports scene in general I highly doubt they'll let you do this. It takes months to get to that level of access unless you already know people or come from an esports company's staff.

Your best bet for doing coverage is to just go to the matches, be *very* polite and don't make a nuisance of yourself when asking for things from management/staff at venues and the players themselves. They're usually pretty accomodating, but don't push your luck or you won't be able to establish a connection to them in the future for further activities.

Auctally the hite comment on me was sorta a joke on my part. i knew it would never happen. i figure my best access is to get some pictures with some of the bw pros.

I'm currently learning korean though, so hopefully when i get there i'll have at least have a small knowledge of korean, enough to allow me to have some basic (and i mean very basic) conversations with the pros.

right now my rent and everything will be about 150-200 USD a month. with fre rice too. so i'll be living uber cheap

well i won't be travelling during the summer (maybe i'll attend gosucoaching camp if i can afford it and if they have it this year), and i'll be back around the end of june.

I have enough money to sustain myself in korea, korea is auctally quite affordable if you live on basics.

in terms of job, well my only job really ends when spring arrives (i work for a snowplowing company) so end of march is pretty good timing for me to go to korea.

also to be honest. if i make enough through ad renevue on my blog to warrant another stay in korea, i will go back. thats the plan anyways. in the absoloute best case scenerio i will be travelling back and forth writing, and making money through that. in the worst case. i will go there and have fun, come back and enjoy life just a little bit better.

Is this a dream or just a long vacation? Three months just watching SC sounds like a kind of strange dream to pursue. It's really not difficult at all. All it takes is a few thousand dollars and some free time, and it ends with not much other than watching some games which won't mean anything when the metagame changes or the next patch comes out anyway.

Are you trying to get a job in the game industry or something? Or maybe get into esports on the organizational side? It just seems very strange to spend money to go to Korea solely for the sake of watching people play SC, when you could do the same right where you are now, other than the live aspect of sitting in a seat and seeing the gamers in a booth.

@masterbreti: Ah right, I didn't realize you were only joking. I just like to make sure newcomers realize that it's not easy to get access straight off the bat. It's something you have to earn over time with hard work ^_^ Most of the players are nice guys though (altho improving your Korean as much as you can will help you when communicating with them of course.) so at fan meetings it's fine to go and ask for photos etc. Just don't bother people during the actual broadcasting and you'll be okay.

you asked a tough ass question, and i'll try to answer it as well as i can. of course other then what i state on here. there are other reasons which are personal and i won't write about.

well right now i'm really going to have fun and to watch the pros. i guess my dream is really just to have fun for once in my life and go and experince what being a progamer would be like. its more aobut having the experince than really doing it. I'm going there to learn, to live, and to come back and know that i did that, that i went to korea and had fun.

i would love to get a job in the esports industry. i think for sure going to korea to write about sc will be a great asset. i guess right now you could call me someone who is going to report on starcraft (1 and 2) in korea. but i'm just a fan with some time and money.

like i had said in my previous post. it would be ideal to basically turn going to korea as a job and be able to go back and forth writing about starcraft. but again, if that doesn't happen, then i went and had fun. i'm not going there to instantly gain fame or a career. i just want to have fun and live a little.

it would be awesome to become a pro gamer, and play sc for a living. currently i am not at that level, and i know that. so going there and spending that time almost totally dedicated to starcraft, i'll improve as a player. but like i said, i'm not going there to sit in a tiny room and play starcraft all the time. I'm going to improve as a person mostly, and have the chance to meet a lot of the players whom i admire.

i completely understand, and its good that people are looking out for forigners going to korea. as well, i'm sure kespa will have a good calender for stuff like fan meetings and such. i will look tonight though

@masterbreti; Actually fan meetings are not official events (aside from the yearly ones held by each team which you need to sign up for using their Daum cafes. They're worth it - I went to a Khan one a couple of years ago and it was awesome. We got freebies too.)

They happen after each proleague match (usually only the winning team will stay afterwards, but sometimes the losing team does too.) at the discretion of the managers. If you wait approximately 30 minutes (whilst players are interviewed inside the press rooms.) then the players will come out to chat with the fans/receive gifts and sign autographs etc. The style of the meets varies from team/time so they can be a really fun way to get a more personal experience with the players (and the Korean fans too.)

Regarding match schedules just check fomos.co.kr they have the most up to date calendar. You'll need to be able to read hangul though because the site is all in Korean.

wow

thanks so much for this. great piece of advice here. I have found the kespa calender for matches. it seems to be pretty good right now. though it seems there are no matches beyond march 16th. but i'll check fomos for sure.

thanks again. Every post makes me more and more exicited to go

No problem, if you need any other advice then just pm me. I'm pretty sure nothing has really changed about attending the Korean leagues since I retired. It's just GSL that I have no idea about since I don't plan on attending it.

Ah okay, so a journey to expand the mind and see new horizons. Nothing wrong with that. Best of luck in your adventures and hopefully the new experiences unlock a lot of opportunities for you .
