I have an Aunt's friend who is quite ill now.. seeking medical help anywhere she can get it.
So,I was wondering if anybody can please direct me to some notable websites/forums - where she can give a detailed description of the condition and then probably get some good second opinions
Many thanks, TL : ) no, you're awesome
Edit: after posting this... i realize its a terrible title... : S

Can she not find a different doctor or something? The internet is not the best place to find quality medical advice.

I really think its probably best for her to visit a doctor who is guarenteed to provide proper information.
According to the internet i have diabetes.....

Honestly it really depends on what type of disease you think she has. And even then, finding something is really tricky.

Call real doctors with real diplomas, the Internet is a terrible place for medical advice. Even 'notable' websites.

I'm a hopeful med student, and I've taken some "medical problem solving" courses. So here are my two cents:
Getting a second opinion online is super hard and almost useless if this is a serious illness. Unfortunately, if this is a serious illness, then she's going to need to share lab tests, data, etc. I doubt this is going to happen, unless you're going to suddenly fax over all the lab results and stuff. I know there are websites where you pay an MD (or DO?) and I would guess they are licensed. I remember seeing one back in the day, but can't remember it off the top of my head. However, consider this though; what exactly is this doctor doing online giving medical opinions?
Ok, sorry, I didn't realize you're in Malaysia. So the above stuff is kind maybe only applicable in the US. Wow, you're in a tough spot. You can try to seek medical opinions online. Its certainly worth it. However, if your English is good, you might want to try to contact a researching MD in the US (a good place to look would be on various med school websites for faculty members or something). They might help for free and possibly give some sort of consultation...also, maybe try contacting universities on your continent? To be honest though, nothing is going to beat seeing a doctor in person. You can definitely try to hit up free clinics (are there any in Malaysia?), and as a last resort you could try some private consultations online, I don't know if I'd waste my money though.

Owh, thx for the replies. Yeah, i figured that finding medical help online is a long shot - and I was hoping (overly-optimistic) there was a forum like TL but where its filled with doctors that like to chill out. but it doesn't hurt to try I guess : S

Yeah I'd definitely give researching MDs at med schools here a shot ASAP. Thanks for the ideas and support : )

HAHHAHA!!! A forum with medical doctors and stuff? That would be called peer-reviewed medical journals. Seriously, med school is super tough, you don't get time to go chill online with other doctors, nor would you want to, its a rigorous curriculum. If you need help or anything, feel free to PM and I'll try to help if I can.
