Here's a simple analogy for you. Tech Death is equivalent to Beethoven compared to the complexity of Doom. Doom is extremely easy to follow and doesn't require intent listening to understand and comprehend the music. Seriously? wow, Funeral Doom and things along that line are MUCH more complex in orchestration then tech death, and have a much wider variety in feeling and atmosphere. Tech Death may be "technical" and musicianship wise outstanding, but has no feeling, no complexity beyond the instrumentation, and is much more accessible then drone/funeral doom.
