That's true, but sometimes it makes watching games worse MMA, DRG, and Squirtle are my favorite players. MMA went in a slump, DRG is in a slump, and Squirtle... watching him place 2nd so many times is just terrible for me. | ||

The thing is that I am so rarely impressed by the "best" players. If I have to watch a mistake-ridden, mechanically mediocre play anyway, the slight differences in quality and level of play don't really matter. | ||

But frankly, a combination of the three is always the best. That's why semi-invite semi-open systems seem to work well. | ||

In any case I always prefer the tournament with the highest caliber of players possible. Which is why I will probably be less psyched for the actual world championship than I was for the Korean qualifier. | ||

I also chose to ignore the home nationality part when choosing the up and comer part. Whether the up and comer is Korean/Polish/NA/Chinese/Martian, whatever, it's always fun to watch a player grow from invisibility to the spotlight.
