Is there anything special/unique that can only be found/experienced in your country? It may be a thing, a person, an event, anything, as long as it is something only your country can lay claim on, something that is done best by your country, or something that your country is famous for. Write about it here, preferably with description and background on this something special/unique.
Belgium
- Turning 18
In Belgium, turning 18 means more than just being officially ushered into adulthood. Once a Belgian citizen turns 18, he/she is required by law to vote. No excuses, except when you're abroad or dying. Also, he/she can only opt not to attend school anymore once he/she reaches 18 (in short, all citizens of Belgium must attend school until 18, then they are free to decide whether they want to continue or not). Furthermore, a Belgian citizen under 18 years of age may not under any circumstance be responsible for any crime (there is even a joke in Belgium that if you want to commit crime, do it before you turn 18).
- Lucky Luke
Lucky Luke is a comics series by cartoonist Maurice De Bevere (Morris). An homage and affectionate parody to the US West, Lucky Luke tells about the adventures of, well, the cowboy named Lucky Luke (who can shoot faster than his shadow) as he fights crimes and often meets real life Western characters like Billy the Kid. It is massively popular all over Europe, and is also translated in many languages in Asia and Africa. It has also spawned in various other media, like animation, tv, video games, and iPhone app.
- Saxophone
The saxophone is a conical-bore transposing musical wind instrument. Saxophones are usually made of brass and played with a single-reed mouthpiece similar to that of the clarinet. It was invented by the Belgian clarinetist Adolphe Sax in 1846. He wanted to create an instrument that would both be the most powerful and vocal of the woodwinds and the most adaptive of the brass, which would fill the then vacant middle ground between the two sections. He patented the sax on June 28, 1846 in two groups of seven instruments each.

In northern Germany and the Netherlands we got the Wadden Sea.
In this gigantic area the sea is gone during low tide and you can walk to the islands or reach them by carriage. The water can retreat up to 40km and if you go for a walk and don't know the timing you can find yourself in the middle of the sea later :D

Germany There are many, let me just cite one closest to my heart. No other country can boast the depth, magnitude, and sheer volume of German thinkers:
Georg Cantor, David Hilbert, Karl Gustav Jacobi, Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel, Hannah Arendt, Erich Fromm, Hans-Georg Gadamer, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Walter Benjamin, Nicolaus Copernicus, Ludwig Feuerbach, Max Horkheimer, Walter Kaufmann, Friedrich Nietzsche, Gottlob Frege, Martin Heidegger, Walter Schulz, Jürgen Habermas, Albert Einstein, Karl Marx, Max Weber, Immanuel Kant, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, etc. etc. etc.
Mygad! With our thinkers we can already populate a country! If we add our musicians, scientists, inventors, and all world renowned Germans, we can already form a medium-sized continent. :p
