Wasn't this a hoax? I can remember the yes-man doing something similar.
A documentary worth watching imo. Anyhow I wouldn't want to eat this. I am all for industrial food production but this is ridiculous. I don't think I could get my mind over the fact that it was at some point poop. :/
As long as it is safe and tastes alright, why not? I wouldn't entirely replace meat but it seems like a healthier alternative to red meat. I would worry about the presence of prions in the feces though.
Ahahaha... I love how the labels say "SHIT BURGER" on them. This can't be real.
Am I starving? Then yeah, I'll eat the turd burger...does it taste good? Then, yeah, I'll eat the turd burger...infact...just gimme one now, I'll eat it.
but i say we should make up a bunch of steaks and give em to africa. just dont tell them! wont they dont know wont hurt em and im sure they will enjoy some steak :-)
Water I'm kind of okay with since as long as you filter it out it's fine but it's shit. I'd much rather use the said waste to grow plants with rather than actually eat it filtered/reprocessed. I can't think of anything that would make me feel comfortable eating that stuff.
Hell no, I would eat cheese or whatever I can get proteins from. Noone can make me eat shit.
Joking aside, if it is perfectly safe health-wise and it doesn't taste too unnatural or dirty, I could perhaps eat it. Still, the psychological effect will be a big problem.
Did you guys know that a common ingredient in energy drinks "Taurine" is actually from Bull piss? (tauren + urine = taurine)... true story. Think about that before you discredit this idea
Thing is no one will able to distinguish between "poop"meat and normal meat as long as the technology is perfected, basicly what they are doing is growing meat from the leftover proteins that they can find in poop. In principle it's exactly the same as making an animal synthesize proteins to create meat, but instead we just do it in a lab setting.
I don't really see why people are going crazy over this, this technology goes a long way in solving world hunger.
Dunno, like others said, water is "recycled" plenty and we don't seem to mind that.
If we saw where a lot of our food came from shit burgers would look pretty tame in comparison. All those hairy pig snouts, ball sacks and stuff that goes into processed meat can't be worse for us than this stuff. A lot of stuff farm animals eat is made from the mashed up gore that is left over from processing plants and that eventually ends up on our plates too.
Having said all that, they better hire one hell of a PR company.
I find it really hard to take this seriously. That youtube video is funny though, "SHIT BURGER" I don't think this would be very practical though, faeces would only contain a tiny amount of protein so 1 turd burger would take a lot of faeces to create. I definitely could not eat one if I was told what it was.
