- Thoughts on winning?
▲ Because I was losing going into today and was in a disadvantage, I emptied my mind. Now that I'm going through to the Ro4, I'm very happy.
- You had terrific Mutalisk micro today.
▲ My Mutalisk micro is always pretty good in practice. It's just that I always get nervous in live matches so I can't demonstrate my full skill. But as I said, after I emptied my mind, everything was a lot easier. I think all that showed in my control.
- You lost Game 1 before starting today's matches.
▲ I tried to think positively. Because I play a ZvZ in the semi-finals too, it's a secret as to how I prepared (laughs). I tried to think as winningly as possible.
- You made a good comeback.
▲ In Game 4, my scouting didn't go well and I lost the build order, so I tried to do something with my lings but it didn't work. After that it was too hard to win so I almost gave up, but I got a window of opportunity and thankfully, I took it. When the opponent brought muta-scourge, I felt that I could win.
- You seem to make comebacks often.
▲ As a player, I think it's better to always be in the lead. However, for the fans, I guess a comeback game would be more entertaining. From now on, I want to be ahead at all times.
- Did Soulkey help you a lot?
▲ I prepared about as much for these games as I did for the first match of this series (laughs). I thought about builds more than actual practice. Soulkey did help me, but he gave me a lot of advice rather than physically practicing with me. I played with Hydra a bit yesterday instead.
- You play Jaedong next.
▲ Because it's Jaedong, I think I can relax a little more knowing that the opponent is pretty good (laughs). Personally, I always wanted to play Jaedong. I'm excited to play, and I want to play as soon as possible.
- You've always lost to Zergs in the semi-finals, how are you going to overcome this?
▲ It's my third time in the semi-finals, and I've played a Zerg all three times. (T/N: Luxury in Lost Saga MSL, Great in PDPop MSL, Jaedong in ABCMart MSL (ninja edit thanks to Kyuukyuu <3) If there is a God, he must hate me (laughs). I think I have to overcome these things to win, so I am going to prepare well.
- Do you know that both your career ZvZ rate and MSL rate are at 50%?
▲ Really was known for always staying at a 50% win rate, and I think it's become worse after he moved to our team. Recently he's been complaining that his bed is uncomfortable and sleeping in my bed instead, and I think I got his energy when he did that. Of course, I don't sleep with him, and I run away to some other room (laughs).
- You're good friends with Calm, anything to say to him?
▲ After we agreed to play with empty minds, I felt bad watching him being unable to leave after he lost. Although I had fun, I don't think Calm felt quite the same way, but I know that we will stay close even after this.
- Final words?
▲ Thank you to everyone that helped me. My teammates didn't help much, so I can't say thanks to them (laughs). I'll try to show good games in the semis as well, so I want everyone to look out for me.

Flash interview thanks to Smix!
Flash, "My immediate goal is to win the semifinals"
"I am thankful to Fantasy hyung who contacted me first to help me practice, as well as my teammates"
"I am thankful to Fantasy hyung who contacted me first to help me practice, as well as my teammates"
- Your thoughts on winning?
▲ Firstly, I’m just really glad I’m in the semis now. Dropping out disappointingly last season was always on my mind, but this season now that I’m in the semis I’ll make sure to work even harder so that I can get to the finals as well.
- Was there a particular strategy you prepared for today?
▲ There wasn’t. I did feel that my vulture/tank control was weakening so I made sure to focus on that during practice. I was confident in my macro game so I didn’t really come up with another strategy.
- You started the game with a disadvantage in the 2nd set.
▲ I think getting through with my first vulture was the biggest reason for my win. Breaking through his defensive line I was able to safely secure a macro game.
- We’re curious as to why you chose to go wraiths so late.
▲ It was the result of the practice I had. Though it is usually more natural to switch to wraiths earlier, because I had another expansion, in order to capitalize on that advantage I chose to go wraiths later. I didn’t want to lose that advantage so I kept pulling out goliaths and tanks.
- You must be disappointed about the set you lost.
▲ Because I was still thinking about the set on La Mancha, I decided to go starport. Leta hyung was able to prepare an effective counter to that. I lost in a close mind game.
- Did you originally prepare wraiths for your last set?
▲ I came today prepared to go wraiths in the last set. I think the game played out as well as it did because I was able to discover Leta hyung’s attack route early on.
- This year your win rate against zerg is 70%, and now your potential opponents are all zerg.
▲ I didn’t know it had reached 70% (laughs). I’m satisfied with that statistic. I think it’ll be difficult to show the same level of performance I had last year. I honestly don’t think I’ll be able to show that same level of results in the rest of my progaming career (laughs). I just hope I can keep playing at the same pace as I did last year. Also, though I haven’t practiced tvz that much yet, I’ll make sure to come up with some special builds through practice here on out.
- The semifinal matches have 3 zerg and 1 terran – are you happy with that?
▲ Because there are only zerg matches left there is the offset that my strategies will be more easily revealed but it will also be easier to practice for. I think it will come down to the best player winning, regardless of race.
- Who do you want to meet in the finals?
▲ Though Jaedong is someone I’ve played many times before, I feel like it will be exciting to play him again. ZerO is also really good against terran so it would be nice to play against him as well. I heard he mentioned in an interview that he would like to play me so I think it should be an interesting game if we do play each other. However, I think the fans will want another ‘Leessangrok’ match (laughs).
- Is your ultimate goal to get the golden badge?
▲ The other players are all really good. I’m not going to be as greedy as to think about the golden badge just yet. As of now my immediate goal is to win the upcoming semifinals against Hydra.
- Is there any thoughts you have on the remaining time of this season?
▲ Last season I think I got too complacent and as a result, dropped out early on, and because of that I had a really hard time (laughs). This season I think I’ll have to have an especially focused mindset and fervor, and I think I am doing just that. As I’m playing tough opponents I can feel my competitive spirit rising so it’s been very fun and enjoyable.
- We’re close to the end of the league now. Are you having any physical issues?
▲ This season, in terms of physical condition I’m satisfied. Recently I increased my practice schedule by a LOT but seeing as how there haven’t been any noticeable side effects I guess I did a good job in keeping in good shape. My wrist does still hurt when I play but I’m regularly going to the acupuncturist and getting painkiller shots. Once the seasons over I’ll get proper treatment for it.
- Last words you want to say?
▲Despite the fact that it was a resting day, BarrackS hyung and Suny hyung both helped me a lot so I want to say thank you to them. Most of all, I was so surprised and touched when Fantasy contacted me first and told me he’d help me. He told me to contact him if I wanted to practice so I was able to practice with him, and I want to tell him how thankful I am. I told everyone I’d buy a meal if I won, so I’ll have to buy my teammates and Fantasy hyung a meal now.
