Running with any decent one is far better than none at all, good for mouse feet as well so you don't shred them.

So first off I am definitely going to get a mousepad now I think I will go with a cloth one maybe a bit softer but not too soft. As long as the pad doesn't move around or slow my movement down it should be fine. I use quite high sensitivity settings so I think only a small one is necessary, not to mention I only have about 20cm of space next to my keyboard. Thanks! Ill prob post what i end up getting.

I ended up going for this: Steelseries QcK Mass It took a while to settle in (two nights with textbooks on top of it) but I think Im quite happy with it, its comfortable, the mouse glides well and It seems like it should be easy to keep clean. My only gripe is that its a bit too big for my tiny desk but that should rectified with a desk upgrade later this year. Anyone else have this mousepad?
