Warning, rant blog. Trying to keep it as civil as possible by not raging all over the place.
Finally made it to 3k masters and I've hit a wall.
My record for PvZ in the past week: 0-32.
That's right. 0 wins. I have not won a single PvZ in the past week. This includes losing to 6 pools, 3 roach speedlings allins, Mutaling. Roach Hydra Corrupter. Roaches. Even a fast Hive to Ultralisk Baneling Speedling. I have lost to it all.
Standard builds of 3 gate expand are not working. Is it because of the extremely open naturals that make Forcefields that much more ineffective? Is it because I'm not Forcefielding effectively? How would one define a good Forcefield when having Roaches and Speedlings shoved down your throat at the 10 minute mark?
Consistently dropping my expansion is a cue to cut all drone production in favor of mass Roach Speedling. Watching my replays, it only shows that I can't see this coming. Scouting is extremely ineffective after Speed is researched, and my inability to pick up on the cue of all ins has stunted my progress.
Mutaling, I've seen is coming back. Roach Hydra is obviously ineffective against deathball play, but honestly, who actually reaches the deathball anymore without being smashed by overwhelming production? I don't. I've watched a lot of streams where the same issue comes up. The 3 gate expand. The expansion drops. 14 roaches and countless lings flood the front before a feasible defense can come up. Forcefields go down, and all they do is stall the Speedlings while the Roaches beat on the wall. Down goes the wall, in comes the Speedlings, down goes the Sentries, the gg is called.
It's a common picture that I've been seeing on my screen, both in streams and in actual play. I'm trying so hard not to rage, as it used to be my favorite matchup. The overwhelming production capacity that zerg has shows in my matchups.
Tried a few different things. Stargate play is usually less than effective because of the prevalence of Queens vs Phoenix/Void Ray. Colossus play you only have one shot to crush him, and if you lose it, Corrupters up the ass eat your Colossus and Roach Hydra rapes your Gateway. High Templar are almost completely worthless against Roaches, and good luck storming Mutas worth a damn.
I'm at a loss.

Watching zerg streams, the theme I'm seeing is the exact opposite. Protoss does what the heck they want because any engagement is completely defined by mass FF usage. Speedlings are useless when you can surround your entire ball with FF and block all roaches off from escaping. Once colossus are out, if there are any FF left, or any sentries whatsoever, and there isn't 10 corruptors on the field, it's gg, there is nothing a zerg can do to some extent.
If you have trouble with zerg armies, you aren't using enough force fields. They seriously are op in the hands of a skilled user.

What about Forge FEs on the newer ladder maps? I find they are very comfortable for protoss because they're so big, and Z usually does a hatch first or fairly quick expo anyway.
And Sm3agol was correct, if you have enough FFs, (3gate sentry expo, giving you 7-8 sentries) you should be able to hold off pretty much anything the Zerg throws at you in the midgame. Some replays perhaps?

3.3k protoss here. Im confident on my PvZ, if you care to share any replays, id be glad to criticize them.

The storming vs mutas is so true... For some reason storm vs muta in SC1 raped, and now it's basically worthless.
The HT vs Roach part however, if you have 4-5 HTs, storm does WORK on roaches, assuming you can land a few money storms. Just make sure you have sufficient stalker count afterwards.

1) Mutas can't stack in Sc2 like in BW 2) Storming the shadow is harder

I wouldn't go for stargate play. Try the 3 warpgate blink stalker build that nony uses every now and then. You just put on a lot of pressure, and eventually you can expand behind it before they get to hydras, if they are getting to hydras you can then do robo.
I agree with the others, I only win with the roach ling pressure on a 3 gate expand against tosses that are bad with force field.

3) Storm did more damage 4) Storm aoe was larger.
Collosi in general are much stronger then HTs though, and much more worth too dump gas into it.
