I've recently restarted P90X... a work out program.
Keyword is restarted.. as I have given up numerous times.. So far I'm into Day 5/90. I'm feeling more optimistic than before mainly because I'm following the nutrition guide a lot more.
I was giving up a lot before because I was eating way LESS than I was supposed to. I was trying to get fit faster so I thought I would make my meals smaller when in fact, they should have been way more.
So... despite my worries, I'm eating more.
But to the point of my blog...
I've been having weird dreams lately... and on top of that, I have picked up a weird habit.
For example, my most recent dream was me eating potato chips while watching a movie on my computer. And then eating a pizza before I jumped into bed.
I woke up feeling guilty thinking that I had already given up AGAIN.. but then I realized that it was all just a dream. WTF kind of dream is that?!?!?!?!?
And my weird habit???
I smell junk food.. but I don't eat it. Sometimes when some of my family members bring home stuff like... Krispy Kreme donuts.. or Pizza Hut, etc... When no one is around.. I open the box and smell it... and then walk away. (It's not just a quick sniff either; I actually smell it as if I'm meditating or something, I really soak it into my nose and brain.)
It's really weird lol.. but I just thought I'd blog it.

This blog reminded me of Ben stiller in Dodgeball... Specifically the scene where he humps the pizza... Please don't hate me
GL with the program though

That chicken looks delicious.

Omg, I totally know what you're talking about.
When I caught myself smelling junk food, I was thinking about the movie and thought wow... I'm doing it too.. XD..

How is P90X? I've been thinking about tying it out.

When you work out your body is naturally telling you that you need food to replenish your energy

It smells delicious. I think that explains it.

Well like I said at the start of my blog post...
I've given up many times. It's definitely not easy. Because not only are the workouts intense, you have to really educate yourself with the nutrition that goes along with it.
It's too easy to give up or make mistakes and just eat stuff that will basically slow down your progress..
That being said, you can totally do it!
I'm doing this for more than fitness... I'm really trying to improve my self-esteem before all else.

That whole smelling the food and walking away thing isn't that weird. My girlfriend does the same thing but she claims that's how she controls her eating habits.
She will just take a sniff of something that she is really craving and imagine herself eating it and just try to get over the craving.
Lol?

Generally I hit the gym to workout but awhile back I started trying out the P90X ab ripper X workout (just to work on my abs), and holyyyy. For 15 minutes~ of total workout time you really FEEL THE BURN. The fact that as you're doing it the "robots" (as I like to call them) on the TV hardly even break a sweat and can do anything as though it's nothing.
.. maybe I'm just fat and not fit, haha. @_@
Kudos for stepping up and trying to keep with it though. Don't give up either! You'll definitely reap the rewards for your dedication!
That being said even though that's a weird habit I definitely think it's much better then eating whatever it is you're "sniffing" haha.

But for the OP, I don't see why dreaming about that stuff is weird, but the smelling junk food ... kinda weird lol
|
It's ok, OP. I empathize with your food dreams, they're totally not weird! I've been a vegetarian for about 2 years, and I dream about eating meat 2-3 times a week. Two nights ago I dreamt I was stuffing handfuls of lunchmeat into my mouth...
The sniffing thing, though. You need help

In my opinion P90X isn't really that good of a routine unless you're really fat. It's almost always better to start training with a program like starting strength or strong lifts, while doing cardio in between. This is because I think most people are lacking in muscle mass, and P90X is more focused on fat loss rather than mass gain. Check out TL's fitness initiative for more information.

I sort of agree with you. You can get noticeable muscle gains from p90x. For me, I had lower than 5 % body fat and I was already pretty fit and muscular but I wanted to be more chiseled. Doing p90x helped with it and I would definitely say that it has its pros and cons. It helps promote a healthier lifestyle and is much easier to do as a "starting out on your own" thing. For instance, a young middle schooler can pick it up and follow and be much stronger by the end of the 90 days. It really does work for those that are wondering and with proper nutrition, it is one hell of a routine. Nutrition is key for it.
edit.. the cons are that it is so damn hard to do the nutrition side.. haha

I heard you AyeH.... it's a struggle a lot of times to figure out how to get all the ingredients and measure the daily carbs and what not.. depending on the phase.
Also, I love sugar. It's hard for me to stop. Even when I'm trying to eat healthy fruit, people tell me it's "bad" because too much sugar..
Food is a drug, really. It affects the same part of the brain that cocaine does. So it's so hard for me to resist sugar.
I'm not eating candy but I'm craving fruit... blackberries, cranberries, watermelon, all of it but during my first phase it says I can only have 1 Cup of say strawberries a day.. but I want more =(.
Anyway, I'm currently cooking some Lemon, Garlic, Olive Oil, Rosemary Chicken Breast Fillet =D!
With a side cup of Miso Soup
I hope it turns out well.. lol, I'm a noob in the kitchen
