Whoops!
It was shortly after I left UCSD I started thinking more about the tournament and how fun it was to watch and socialize with other SC players. I'm not a stranger to gaming communities, but Halo LANs are usually across the country and in my day a 17-18 year old girl (now 22) flying alone to a would-be sausage fest wasn't going to win my folks over... so getting to go to these (local!) events really make my day. For example, I had gone to the UCSD Starcraft/CSL night a few weeks before (I didn't play, I took pictures) and the MSL finals last year. I'll even be at the GSL Finals viewing party tomorrow :D
Back on track here: My epiphany was that I want to become a god damn Terran Queen. Actually, I just really want to get better/become more confident in playing. So that I can actually participate in some of the events and not just idly watch from the sidelines. Don't get me wrong, I still have fun, but I want to play well enough to hold my own.
So I've started taking baby steps. I've been playing more with some better experienced friends, as well as getting some 'lessons' and general advice from them (I jokingly call this my 'Star School'). Another friend of mine just started playing recently also so we play together. I popped my Day9 cherry and watched his show this week (or was it last weeks? The TvT marathon?) and it was pretty insightful. Been reading what I can during my down-time and doing a lot more lurking here, just trying to replicate anything I see really.
I should also probably stop playing on my MacBook Pro. I hear that isn't a very cool thing to do.
Hopefully I get some more Star School tonight.
tl;dr chobo with a dream
