I've had since last semester and I've definitely enjoyed it way more than I thought. I guess I shouldn't have listened to everyone on how amazing XP still was.
|
i also approve of Windows 7. However, currently I'm a bit angry with it as I can't activate my copy, my windows 7 is an upgrade version for XP/Vista and initially it was great, and then my hard drive failed and I had to pick up a new one, so clean 7 installation and I can't activate I would need to arbitrarily upgrade again, but I got rid of my XP copy

Just a heads up, you can use a WAT remover to remove the activation tool lol You still get all the windows updates, but it doesn't hassle you to activate. Cause i installed windows 7 on my laptop and found myself with this small problem, so i removed the activation tool entirely and voila, completely unlocked without any cracking crap.
In relation to the OP, i also love windows 7, huge speed boost from vista <3

I'm glad you like it, because Windows 7 was my idea.

I can imagine this in a commercial! Lol.

if ur BW freezes, try this
in notepad, type (or just copy paste)
taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe C:\"Program Files (x86)"\"Starcraft"\"StarCraft.exe" (note: your sc exe file directory) start explorer.exe
save file as extension.bat run this file then bw

while we're on the same topic, anyone know a fix for broodwar not allowing me to connect to b.net because it thinks i have a virus? I always have to start BW as an administrator to connect to B.net.

Yes it is indeed an MSI 6870. I love the MSI version because it comes with the MSI afterburner software.
Corsair ftw!

I was using XP for the longest time until my old computer died. My current comp I bought back in march of last year, came with Windows 7, and I fucking love it.

Wait, so if I have an OEM copy of W7, it's transferrable to a new mobo?

Maybe. Some of the people on the forums I read said that doing what I did caused BSODs and they had to do clean installs. Not sure if I got lucky like the others or if W7 is just super awesome like that.
And I used the OEM W7 I bought from newegg in my first build which I used to swap mobos.

it also depends on what you mean by an OEM copy. If you brought an OEM copy from newegg, you can probably transfer it, but if it was a OEM copy that came with your PC, (IE you brought a pc from dell and it came with windows 7) you can't transfer it to another computer.

Windows 7 looks good, but is there any way to get rid of cleartype fonts everywhere ? (I know you can for IE). Cleartype fonts give me terrible headaches, I just can't use Windows 7 more than 1 hour (I have to sometimes at work..)
Anyway, that's a nice gift you had !

what auto overclocking software are you using, or how did you do it?

The over clocking software comes with the Asus motherboard. It is their "ASUS Unique Overclocking Utitlity - TurboV EVO" which allowed me to auto OC.
It has the TurboV overclocker -The Turbo Unlocker which unlocks cores on certain AMD CPUs -The ASUS TurboV Auto tuning mode (So cool! :D) -Their 'CPU Level UP" -And the ASUS Turbo Key which lets you overclock manually by setting certain values to hotkeys and doing it that way.
