In response to my wife’s awesome blog, here’s a battle report of a game we played earlier this year. Yes, we really haven’t been playing BW for a while. Oh, and if you haven’t read her blog, go ahead and do that first!
Please just enjoy the game for what it is. Words of encouragement and friendly tips are more than welcome. However, should you wish to criticize anyone’s play, do it only for the imba turtle terran (me).
Note that my wife loves to play a macro game. So this is one of those instances wherein I take a 1 minute handicap to give her a head start and make sure we go into a longer game. In return, she doesn’t do any kind of cheese that I would have no chance of defending.
+ Show Spoiler +
We start cross positions on Python. P at 8; T at 2.
Uummm… what did the missus say again? Not to move for a minute?
As you can see, by the time I have my first supply depot halfway done, she already has a core warping in.
1gate core – just like what my hubby taught me…
She then starts a 2nd gateway while I get ready to plant my factory with my first marine on the way.
After that, she plants a robo. Meanwhile, my first factory is almost up.
After scouting at 7 then going cross map to 1, I finally scout her last. My valiant scv quickly turns around instead of trying to squeeze past the guarding dragoons.
No peeking!!!
After driving my scv away, she starts a late nexus due to the 2nd gateway and the robo.
Meanwhile, I start a CC asap. Not having been able to scout her and only assuming that she’s going for an expansion, I quickly plant an e-bay as well.
She then gets near perfect timing on her probe transfer and starts a forge since she likes to get upgrades real early.
Nice going honey!!!
On my end, I float my CC over and start putting up turrets all over the place. I can never tell when she wants to go on a DT spree. Although she usually does that after a great bisu game lol.
I then start a 2nd and 3rd factory. I hold off on a fourth, having no intention of putting up any kind of mid-game pressure due to the cross positions.
At this point, she has four gateways up and is beginning to finally recover a supply advantage that was lost after an inefficient start.
I then start to push out to secure my third - being very careful since I never know how well she has been macroing during this time.
O, look bisu’s favorite unit, the DT!
At this point, she has a 98-76 supply advantage. I immediately start a CC at 5, hoping that she misses the short window that I don’t have my siege line all the way down yet.
I hope I don’t get caught!!!
Determined not to get outdone, she drops probes over at the 7 island to start an expansion. How nice of her to drop 2 probes. It could be quite lonely down there!
At this point, she suddenly decides to move out with a 108-86 supply advantage.
She also catches me with my pants down... I mean, with my vultures carelessly out of position and mines not yet planted!
I immediately get it together to make sure she doesn’t break my line. Fortunately, she doesn’t pay too much attention and her goons begin pounding on a supply depot instead of pushing onward.
My tank line proved deep enough to hold on and she retreats. With better micro and rallying of reinforcements, she could’ve probably broken through. Even after retreating, she could’ve easily taken out my expansion attempt at 5.
No more manlots? Retreat!!
I then extend my siege line to cover my 2nd expansion.
At this point, my macro is starting to kick in as I have 6 factories to her 5 gateways.
Knowing not to underestimate the power of the opposite sex, I don’t get complacent and start another CC.
Finally, she gets HTs out… although knowing her, she won’t be using those for storms lol.
Having stretched all the way down, I float my CC over to 6. At this point, I’m feeling very comfortable knowing that she’s still on 3 bases.
Being almost completely maxed out with 2-1 upgrades just before the 16 minute mark, she attacks. Unfortunately, she should’ve scouted more carefully with her observer. I had a gazillion mines planted with most being out of range of tank fire.
SPIRIT TOSS!
She lost 30 supply before getting even close to my first tank.
At this point, I mobilize the rest of my army. With a healthy tank count and her zealots vaporized by the initial push, I was in a very good position.
OUCH!!
My scv chasing away the retreating dragoons…
After exactly 1 minute, I move out with a tank heavy 2-1 upgraded army with a lot of vultures queued to reinforce.
She manages to take out the control group or so of vultures that I had. Unfortunately, too many tanks remained and a lot of reinforcements are on the way.
2 storms into GG
Ultimately, in a long game, despite Mrs. Slayers Bunkie’s odd start, her macro proved sufficient to create a nice scary army within a decent time frame. Unfortunately, attacking a well-entrenched terran proved to be suicidal without arbiters/storms/zealot bombs – things that she doesn’t feel comfortable executing just yet. She also should have expanded a lot more considering a handicapped terran would have near zero map control. Then again, it would be a lot harder to macro off 5-6 bases compared to three.
We’ll see how much more she can improve during our BW spree that might be starting tonight! Quickly, go vote in her thread if you haven’t already!

Stay tuned for future battle reports if I ever get around to doing another one… (these take a lot of work!)
Merry Christmas everyone!
