There is a VN that disturbs me more than School Days, and that's Saya no Uta. That VN seriously, utterly, screwed my head to all hell and back. well you know Saya no Uta is a pretty extreme read even for really advanced VN readers. I usually only do mild to intermediate reads, mainly because I want my reads to be enjoyable xD

Saya no uta and School Days is good but pretty extreme. Surprised nobody mention Ef - the fairy tale of two.

I like the Latter Tale better than The First Tale. Chihiro route is the best out of all.

I've always been interested in exploring the world of VN's, but I haven't figured out how to patch to English yet O_O

Mangagamers release official english translated VN, so you don't need to patch it manually.

God, just thinking about it makes me rage so hard. The art style was really pretty and was the only reason why I kept watching till eps 6 ("Maybe something will happen in the next eps..."). I didn't know it originated from a game until much later but it explained a lot. 0 development? Each character gets a bit of their story solved up until (I think) episode 7, when the main story (Misuzu) begins. It could have had more, but it was a half season series, can't do much with so little time. But at least they used half of it to focus on Misuzu, which the only thing that matters anyway. If you kept watching, you'd probably start to enjoy it and possibly cry your soul out at the end. I will say though that it has nothing on Clannad anime as an adaptation. Clannad (After Story in particular) is probably the best VN adaptation ever made. As for the VNs themselves, my favorites are probably Umineko and Ever17. Although Umineko is so incredibly long right now, I have the hardest time in the world trying to get people into it.
IMO most/all good manga grabs your interest and runs with it by the end of the first episode or first chapter. I shouldn't have to watch 7 episodes of nothingness before anything remotely happens.

I agree, I just disagree that there's nothingness. Just saying that it only gets real good when Misuzu's story begins. But yeah, if you couldn't stand it the best thing to do is drop it.

Here's two sites that I use to keep track of any translated/retail releases of VNs.
http://vndb.org/ http://translationlibrary.blicky.net/ff/ff_vnlibrary.htm
The first site has a pretty good database of almost all VNs (Japanese or English).
The 2nd site looks like it hasn't been updated since February but it still has a pretty good list of translated VNs. This site really helped me find a lot of fan translated VNs.

lol I wonder if i was your friend. Air is one of my favorites Probably because it was around the beginning of kyoto animation's rise to power. I'm sure it's just nostalgia powering the greatness of it now.

I doubt it :D I've been using this screename for a really long time now lol. Now that I think about it, I do remember that he was telling me that it gets better at eps 7 too. I thought he was just fucking with me because I quit right at episode 6.

The sites doesn't have full links of games but I just use it to keep track of new releases. Usually I can google the link for the game separately pretty easily.
