First time blogging not sure what to blog about I guess I'll do a Visual Novel Read. The Visual Novel is one that I came across recently. it's awesome because of all the references to US and World Politics it makes xD Yep this Visual Novel is Osananajimi wa Daitouryou, or My Childhood friend is the President
17+ Please btw.
The story starts like this......
So Nippon was destroyed The End did I mention the Star Trek like Bridge? xD
just kidding Any ways Part 2
Why is the intelligence director a 2D freak xD Morita's lack of sense of reality certainly makes him a great comic character
Visual Novels are unique, I like their artwork and backgrounds. The only one I ever read was Clannad and that's only because I wanted to see the Sakagami Tomoyo route. Visual Novels are boring to read... Edit: Unless the plot is awesome...
Yeah VNs are quite a new(and pleasant!) experience for me too. Hard to think that 2 months ago I didn't even know about their existence.
Before, while reading and watching The World God Only Knows, I though VN=gal games=SIM date game simulations. Turned out to be a bit different
I especially liked the emotes on the characters while playing . Anyway I already wrote an extensive post about it and you responded yourself in the anime thread, so I'll skip my impressions on it.
I'm sure you already know that it's about ~10h of reading each route so you might have some difficulties getting a full route read done ;D.
The VN I actually like was Fate/Stay Night. It has a couple of obligatory cheesy slapped-on H-Scenes (seriously... I don't even know why it was necessary) but the story was pretty well developed and most of the stuff end up tying together and makes sense.
Also I tried watching the anime prior to playing it and I thought the pace of the anime was so damn slow and boring. IMO most animes that originate from VN/H-games suck.
It's a shame that the majority of the VN that get translated are mainly H-games. They hardly have great storylines like F/SN. Also I was reading up on Radical Dreamers when Raelcun was playing Chrono Chross on his stream. It turns out that it was fully translated by some group a while ago but I haven't had the chance to plow through it yet.

You should try Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rena still makes me shutter I have to admit the slice of life part in the beginning is kind of dumb though, but bear with it
There are some good anime from VN like Clannad and Kanon 2006 :>
FSN/Planetarian are great for sure. Actually nice that only a few get subbed; I'm afraid I'd get sucked into the world of visual novels if too many were translated!
My favorite VN so far is Tsukihime. I don't know but I feel that Tsukihime has far better story than F/SN.
Mangagamers released many english translated VN, and I enjoy almost all of it. Edelweiss, Kira-Kira, D.C. Da Capo and Suika was really enjoyable. Dissapointed with Shuffle though, after all the hype from it.
Too bad many good VN never translated, like Flyable Heart that I just finished recently.
Anyway, TYPE-Moon is working on Tsukihime remake, I hope it will get english translation fast.
Edit: is OP put video on there? I was writing on my phone and can't see it
I didn't really like Tsukihime all that much. The pacing was not as good as F/SN and I love how F/SN ties everything together neatly.
If you played both Tsukihime and F/SN I recommend trying out BattleMoon Wars. It's basically a knockoff of Super Robot Wars but it features characters from F/SN, Tsukihime and possibly some other ones as well. It's a strategy game and not a VN but I thought the story was pretty good and it uses what happened in Tsukihime and F/SN pretty well.

Air the anime made me want to strangle something. It was god awful and is by far the worst anime I ever had to sit through. I had a friend who swore it was the best anime ever so I downloaded and watched it though maybe 5-6 eps. In every eps absolutely NOTHING happens with 0 character/plot development. God, just thinking about it makes me rage so hard. The art style was really pretty and was the only reason why I kept watching till eps 6 ("Maybe something will happen in the next eps..."). I didn't know it originated from a game until much later but it explained a lot.
First and only one I played was School Days... big mistake X_X Killed my visual novel experience for me... but this one looks promising, I'll have to check it out

0 development? Each character gets a bit of their story solved up until (I think) episode 7, when the main story (Misuzu) begins. It could have had more, but it was a half season series, can't do much with so little time. But at least they used half of it to focus on Misuzu, which the only thing that matters anyway. If you kept watching, you'd probably start to enjoy it and possibly cry your soul out at the end. I will say though that it has nothing on Clannad anime as an adaptation. Clannad (After Story in particular) is probably the best VN adaptation ever made.
As for the VNs themselves, my favorites are probably Umineko and Ever17. Although Umineko is so incredibly long right now, I have the hardest time in the world trying to get people into it.

Yeah School Days isn't a good one to start out with, good beginner VNs are Clannad and Kannon, Princess Waltz, Tears to Tiara is also one to start of well with, it has a good share of RPG gameplay as well and the plot is more or less enjoyable (it's also pretty short) like drama/slice of life/comical VNs. then into slightly more advanced ones with heavy plot like Yume miru Kusuri and Fate/Stay Night. Sengoku Rance is great but it's gameplay heavy (pro/con depending on the player pro for me) but I'd recommend that to more experienced eroge gamers. School Days is usually just alittle violent for beginner readers. I am thinking of doing Tears to Tiara next after I am done with this novel blog
