15 CTF 10 First Blood Run like a chicken for like 30 games.
I've already prestiged twice but the perks pro are discouraging me from doing it again. It just sucks.
i'm now 8th prestige and go for the same perk aswell probably best you can go is lightweight and steady aim...at least it works for me pretty good
doing the 15 ctf is easiest on nuketown with those perks, if you get decent teams you should do it fast in like 10 games... the first blood is easy there aswell as in the s'n'd modes and the 26 miles...well...that's the easiest part i guess
after getting the pro's i most of the time play hc s'n'd since it's pretty much one of the easiest ways to get xp but also the mode i really like to play

DO you get some extra unlockable guns or something? :S
not guns but some other stuff gets unlocked... however, beside that prestige is just pretty much what it says...prestige! it just adds a lil bit spice in terms of longtime playing i guess

I just hit my 2nd prestige last night and I dont think i'll be prestiging again. Having to play different game modes to actually unlock some of the pro perks have discouraged me to try and do all 15 prestiges. It isn't to bad but having to do the 15 CTF captures gets old when I dont have friends that are interested much at all in CTF and only play it to unlock the marathon pro perk, or when I do it solo and you get put into a team where they are playing like its team deathmatch and have no idea what the objective of CTF is, or even better yet when you have the other team camping the fuck out of the flag, i dont mind the claymore being set down but gosh do you have to camp the damn flag as well.
My K/D ratio is 1.42, should be higher but after the first week of playing and then prestiging I would run around the map looking for kills while newer people were getting the game and camping on maps leading to more deaths on my part. On average though from week to week since the game has been out I have been putting up 1.6-1.8 K/D ratio.
Edit: Now that I think about it I might level up to unlock 8 classes at least and call it quits. I hate it when i need certain perks just to beat people and not having the option to choose those perks until after the game.

I don't even bother going for the pro perks since I prestige every 3-4 days.

Fortunately I've never been a huge fan of Marathon, outside of a SMG class to rush/flank with. I unlocked it on 1st prestige and man was that a pain. The 26 miles was almost as bad as CTF (which can be easy or really annoying) because I had to use it for so many games. Not unlocking that until I'm done prestiging (likely at 10).
Currently it's pretty much Sleight of Hand and Hacker on everything for me, so there's not much I have to unlock. I had a little variance at first, but having to re-unlock the pro versions (and many being annoying to get) has led me to trim down, too. I've actually made use of most/all of the first perks, though this time around I did Lightweight more because it was easy exp. Didn't actually buy the pro version. Flak Jacket I don't actually care about the pro version (and haven't unlocked it in any prestige, or tried), as it's useable as is. Only really tossed it on the shotgun class so far, though. Ghost/Scavenger get some decent use (and I've gotten lucky on finding Sentry guns so far, shooting stuff down was the last one on 1st and 2nd prestige), and I go back and forth on having a Hardline Pro class to switch to while using SAM/Care Package.
And yes, the only real point to prestiging is custom class slots (quite useful for many people, especially ones that use a wide variety of guns). There's a few cosmetic things that almost nobody will care about (4 or so extra face paints and golden gun camos, oh boy!) and getting an icon you might like. The Prestige playlists seem largely pointless, as most people will just use the normal playlists.

Requesting that someone tries joining the server again. I put in a ticket to have it cancelled/refunded, but was informed they apparently messed up and forgot to apply the patch to my server. Supposedly, they have verified it now appears in the server browser.
If it works, then I guess I'll keep it up.

No luck for me, but I can barely get any non-US servers to show up in my list for some reason, so don't go solely off of me.

Learn the maps/spawn points/early nade spams
Play Team Death Match or Domination, and eventually head to Search and Destroy.
Use the Famas (lvl 14) when available, almost everyone uses it, so that must mean something. Until then good luck with the M16.

Once you unlock it on the playlist, headquarters is a great way to learn your way around the maps. The HQ keeps moving to different parts of the map, so you get to fight all over the map and learn how to/how not to get there, since you'll have the HQ symbol onscreen guiding you in the right direction, even if you aren't sure where you are in the map yet.
In general, try to stick to the outer edges of the map and not charge through the middle. Don't be afraid to just stop, chill, and take stock of the situation/wait for people to rush by you. You don't need to be running 24/7 like a headless chicken.
If you want to learn the spawns (not a bad idea) the easiest way is to probably play a bunch of maps in the gametype you want to learn (TDM is gonna be different than Demoltion, for example), then go to theater mode. Go into free roam camera, fly way up so you can see the whole stage, and then just fast forward and note where the red/green names spawn at. There's less spawn areas than you might think on most maps. Learning spawns may be something more for a "I've had the game for a couple weeks" as sitting in theater mode fast forwarding through matches isn't exactly the most exciting thing to do for something that just got the game, hehe.
On a side note, if you know where the other team is spawning, rushing it doesn't really work out too amazingly as you'll probably just force their spawn to change. Find a spot a decent distance away and shoot them as they come out (COD often has "invisible lines" that usually change the spawns when you cross them, though it's sometimes lenient if it's just one person crossing the line).
If you aren't good with the M16, use the MP5K class and just hip fire the hell out of people since it has Steady Aim on the class. It's amazingly effective and I'm kinda sad that it's the top class on the list, as it was the first one to get eaten when custom class 6 gets unlocked (aka, first time you prestige and then unlock create a class at level 4).

I wish that for Ghost Pro, you have to destroy a Sentry Gun OR a SAM Turret. Because nobody uses Sentry Gun. And the two times that I've seen one, some other guy on my team always gets there first. -_-

in case someone does not wanna get spoiled some easter eggs just go by this post...
+ Show Spoiler +so just went through the singleplayer part again and finally figured out how to get out of the chair when you're in the menu and get onto the computer behind you... anyone already tried those easter egg/minigames there? did the alien-swarm-zombie-kinda-mode which is actually quite fun for some minutes and the interactive spelling game zonk (ohh i want those 5minutes back!) and then the other stuff, like the therapist and the email...is there a point for this stuff or is it just there?

So pretty similar to every other COD, thanks for the advice. :D

I have to echo the comments about learning the spawns... It's really the key to understanding the flow of the game and preventing yourself from raging hardcore at them spawning behind you and shooting you in the back every 5 seconds.
Oh, and patience! This isnt UT or Quake where you need to move a lot. You definitely have to move, but you pick your times. Camping is just as bad as running around non stop.

It's downloading at ~30kbps, is this normal or is something wrong? And how much annoying stuff, like noob tubes, is there? My least favorite perk is last stand/second chance so i'm really annoyed to see it back.

My least favorite perk is last stand/second chance so i'm really annoyed to see it back. The servers I've been playing on have no tubers, maybe one or two people using last stand. But the animation for last stand deaths is so protracted and obvious that I never find myself having any problems with it; the person is usually dead before they even hit the ground and raise their pistol.

Most servers are no tubes/rockets, however, the admins aren't there 24/7 so some people decide to use them when no admins are on.
Last Stand is probably the thing that makes me rage the most in this game. Taking a kill and giving it to someone else, 50% of the time.

hmm , i have this game on the PC for steam but for some reason my FPS really goes down. I know it cant be my PC since i can play every other game on high settings (crysis, crysis 2, etc.) is there a problem with black ops on the pc or what?

Ok. I have verified the TL server is up and running, and encourage you guys to use it. It can be found as 000TL in red letters in the server browser.
The server is ranked and located in Amsterdam, NL if you can apply those as filters. Otherwise, just sort alphabetical and it should be near the top.
I have also been given a few channels in the TL TS3 server, so you guys are more than welcome to use one of the FPS channels for your matches.

Oh no, but then people will cry and whine that you're a camper, God forbid!
