Ok, this is really annoying me and I can't figure out how to do it at all.
How do you turn off the god damned hotkey buttons at the bottom of the screen? Those little fucking shits that I always accidentally click on.
Example: I am trying to tell 20 zerglings to attack. Instead, I accidentally click on the hotkey button, and not only do I lose selection of my 20 zerglings, it also suddenly transports me across the map to my hatchery which I have hotkeyed as 5. I scramble to get back to where the battle is and of course, all my zerglings are dead. That's pretty much GG.

WHO THE HELL NOOBIFIES this game so that you can see cute little hotkey buttons that you can click on with your one button macintosh mouse. Don't get me started.
Blizzard, are you serious that you think that we FORGET what units we have selected on our hotkeys that we need little pictures to remind us!? Oh, and by the way Dustin, people use hotkeys so they can select units faster. Who exactly proposed the idea that clicking on a button for hotkeys adds any sort of extra functionality except for the uber noobs? And what is the idea with the little pictures on the buttons that tell me what is in that control group. Who the hell can tell that it's an overlord or a hatchery or a queen or 20 zerglings.

I've had the same problem. Didn't even know there were little control group buttons at the bottom until I accidentally clicked on one. Only advice I have is to make your mouse less sensitive.

Then don't click them... If you're clicking stuff accidentally, you should probably lower your mouse speed.

Uhm, I do use hotkeys, and I'm mid diamond fyi. What value does your post add? I regularly have all 10 hotkeys used, and I can keep very good track of what I have on each. What I don't like is that the little buttons use up the whole bottom row of my screen. It's like an auto-lose minigame that when i'm in a battle, not only do I need to do things right, but I need to make sure not to accidentally click on those or else my screen instantly flies off and my control group is instantly selected to something completely random.
So yes, I have tried the "make menu bar unclickable" option, but it doesn't make the hotkeys unclickable.
I have read the comments that say "just try harder not to click on them", and that is a solution, though it is a retarded solution. It's completely reasonable to want to be able to turn off little "autolose" buttons at the bottom of your screen. anyone who had clicked on these in the middle of a battle will know what I mean. it happens a lot particularly when you are moving scrolling screen down while clicking a-attack. accidentally click on the little button, and my screen is completely somewhere else.

Even though the OP will probably get this thread closed, I agree those buttons at the bottom are retarded and I've posted about it before, just like the notification buttons on the left.
They cant be turned off and really counter intuitive.

you can actually turn off the notification buttons on the left. They are in options->gameplay somewhere. I have them all turned off.
but there's no option to turn off hotkey buttons for some reason.
The only way that these hotkey buttons can be worse is if they pop up in the middle of the screen rather than below.

Those buttons are pretty useful. I've never clicked on them by mistake. Don't see what the big problem is. Do you make a habit of clicking outside of the play area?

I have never accidentaly clicked on those. Sounds strange to me that this would be a real problem to you.
Kinda lean towards saying you just have to pay more attention/be more precise with your actions. Not many people suffer from this problem, and you should be able to get past this. I don't want this to be something you can adjust to help yourself - it seems to me this is a basic skill you should just master.

I think you are misunderstanding what I mean.
by "those buttons are pretty useful" do you mean that you actually click on them to select your groups? Let me get this straight, you have 3 control groups set on 1, 2, and 3 respectively. instead of doing "1a click 2a click 3a click", you use your mouse to click on the little hotkey buttons 3 times?
Don't make me laugh, what is your league and apm if I may ask?
Also, the hotkey buttons are not outside of the "playing area". they are very much inside the playing area. and they are annoying as hell.

i am saying that they are useless. they are annoying too, but also useless. they should just be taken out.

Blizzard, I know that most everyone helping to design this game are ported from WOW, and that the lead designer Dustin was ported from a completely different useless and failed RTS (if you can even call it that), so you have great community building and marketing, but your actual decisions are shit... and that you received almost no advice from professional gamers,
but seeing how this is an easy modification to make, and you are still making patches somewhat regularly, can you please add an option under gameplay menu to "turn off hotkey buttons".
