I like having them there to see how many units I have, but why did they make them clickable? If someone could use his keyboard to set a control group, what makes Blizzard think he wants to click them?

My point exactly.

My whole point is that this whole idea was proposed by noob developers who want to make it all shiny and pretty and have no idea actually how the game is played.

Maybe it's nice to see the units, but the whole "clickable" part is retarded. they even have an option to make the menubar unclickable. so why do they make it so the hotkeys are clickable.

I'm a bronze league player. I've absolutely never accidentally clicked on a single one of those buttons. You're simply clicking in an area you should just look at as not being part of the playing area. Think of it as an extension for the interface/menu/whatever you want to call the bottom part of the screen. This wasn't a feature made by, "noob developers" and the fact that it's clickable really shouldn't affect your gameplay whatsoever.

If you're such an awesome, "non-noob" gamer, why do you keep clicking on things by accident? Maybe you should spend more time working on your mouse skills and less ranting on the internet.

I don't really understand how you guys are clicking on the buttons, do you not move the screen to "center" the battlefield or do you like playing with the battles like on the edges of your screen so thats when you accidently click the hotkey buttons.

Yea I've only done that once or twice but it was annoying. It was completely my fault, but annoying none the less. They aren't even really useful to see what you have in the group. If you have more than one unit type it just displays one, so the only real information is the number which i have never found to be important enough to make me look at it. Anyone who plays enough to use hotkeys has a standard setup and knows what their groups are so I dont really see a point. And if you were playing mouse only it would probably still be faster to just box. Its not a huge problem, but theres a simple solution so I dont see why an option to turn it off couldn't be added.

for instance, when I am scrolling downwards, my mouse will be at the bottom of the screen near the hotkeys.

I think the left event notices are extremely annoying. I've clicked on them a few times while trying to maneuver around. Nothing to get worked up about, but still a minus.
