LATEST NEWS!!!!
After our most recent win in CSL vs Poly, our coordinator, Monk, has decided to organize an OPEN sc2 tourney for practice purpose.
Hey guys Steve here: As people have been asking for practise and just general play, I will start a trial run of WSL(Waterloo Starcraft League) for the remainder of the Term. Cost: FREE Info: This is a fun league that doesn't require skill lvl, Bronze? NO PROBLEM! It's a Team vs Team league that plays 1 match every week. Each team must have at least 4 members Format: 1v1 2v2 1v1 3v3 1v1 ace if necessary Maps will be given on a weekly basis The first 3 sets must have unique players(No player can play twice within the first 3 sets) Registration: Team name: team members, their real id and their bnet nick, correspondence email to WaterlooSCLeague@gmail.com Registration closes Sat Nov 13th, 11:55pm If u want UW sc2 scene to thrive, TELL EVERYONE ABOUT THIS
Now what does this mean? Well, basicly it will be a chance for you guys to practice with many member of UWaterloo team and improve your sc2 skill. We are one of the top teams in the CSL currently if we are not yet the #1 seed. With a large number of high level members in all 3 races and our 3 own streams/caster (Muny(official streamer), Combat-ex and antimage), we will guarantee that it will be a lot of fun :3....
Anyway, the finalize of the rule has not yet been set but we are expecting players from ALL level (yes, even if you are in bronze) so there will be some rules just to make sure all the team setups would be balance and everyone has an equal chance of winning. We are thinking about limit the "total elo" of 4 players to be 4000 and lower league elo will be counted differently.
Any suggestion are welcome and please remember, this is and OPEN tourney and everyone are allowed to register. We are currently testing out season 1 and looking for sponsors for season 2 (spoiler: Monk revealed that we already have 1 :D)
alright! thats about it! ima provide you guys with more info later :3

our current plan is to spread out our pro to join up with the noobs to avoid imbalance but if there is not much bronze players signing up, we should be able to have a weekly pro level league coming soon.
its mostly depend on our players pool, we will make our final decision after we gather enough info

A diamond player >>>> bronze player so I think to adjust for this, you should make it so that the limit is like 3000 and have silver and bronze be worth very little points. After all, a solid team of 2 2K ranked players and 0 point bronze players would DOMINATE the 1v1s and it wont even matter about the lower level players...
HMC would be happy to participate as we got a lot of new members who are slightly lower leveled =/

HMC would be happy to participate as we got a lot of new members who are slightly lower leveled =/ we are still working on that: the format only contain 2 1v1 and 1 2v2 1 3v3 a lots of bronze players do really well in 2v2 and 3v3 so i dont think there would be any problem. But yes, we are thinking about make everyone that are not diamond have an elo that is lower than 1000, details will be announced base on players pool

As far as I pictured this, the first weeks match ups would be randomized and if you won, you would 'move up a ladder' and if you lost, you would 'move down a ladder'. The next week, you play a team whos on a similar position on the ladder as you and so on. If you wanted to get fancy (or employ a CS/math student) you could have it so that a 3-0 is worth more than a 3-1 etc.

Open as in One of the team members has to go to University of Waterloo
If you want to participate but dont have a team, send WaterlooSCLeague@gmail.com an email with your name, realid, and bnet id confirming your interest. I will arrange teams with the pool of players
There is also a point restriction. The first 3 sets must have a combined total of less than 4000 diamond points.
