Looking for Hip/Hop Recommendations!

ZZangDreamjOy Canada959 Posts October 25 2010 08:00 GMT #1 I'm mainly a metalhead, but lately I've been listening to quite a bit of hip/hop, such as The CunninLynguists, Kno, Atmosphere, Immortal Technique etc. I'm looking for more recommendations along those lines. None of that Lil Wayne shit.

I additionally recommend P.O.S, R.A The Rugged Man, Subtitle, Sage Francis, and Blackalicious. My top 10 hip-hop albums of all time: 1. Madvillain - Madvillainy (alternative) 2. DJ Shadow - Endtroducing... (instrumental) 3. A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory (jazz hop) 4. Wu-Tang Clan - Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) (gangster rap) 5. Doomtree - False Hopes (alternative hip hop) 6. Black Star - Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star (hip hop/dub) 7. Del Tha Funkee Homosapien - I Wish My Brother George Was Here (hip hop) 8. Notorious B.I.G - Ready To Die (gangster rap) 9. Outkast - Stankonia (southern hip-hop) 10. Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030 (progressive hip-hop/rap opera) those albums would be a good place to start.

His style is different on every album : - Jaku : a mix of hip-hop, japanese traditional music, and jazz, in a very dark atmosphere. A true masterpiece. - Ki-Oku : a collaboration with a famous japanese trumpetist I forgot the name. Perfect as a background music to chill out. - Zen : as its name indicates, a very zen hip hop album. - Holonic : more experimental, harder to listen if you're not that much into hip-hop. Some great songs though. - Meiso : same remarks as Holonic. A few songs to convince you : Enjoy
