No, not a whine about roaches :p
I was scrolling a bit trough the achievements and I saw this:
A roach's life Regenerate 500life in a single roach during a quick match without taking friendly fire
So my first question is:
Is this actually possible without insane amounts of luck? I mean in sc2 it's not that hard to focus fire and I don't see in what what how it would be possible to regenerate (with burrow) 500 life on a single roach, that is fairly insane.
Second: Does queen transfusion count towards this? Because if it is it's actually wort trying, make some extra queens, wait for energy for transfusion and so some sort cute roach push or so.
Anyone here that already has the achievement and can tell me how you did it?
Because it seems fairly impossible, but at the same time a lot of fun to try to get it :p

sure, if a protoss is going storm its very possible. Aside from that I don't know, I've never seen anyone with it to my knowledge (not that I look very hard)
I don't know if queen transfusion counts if it does, it might be unintentional as otherwise you could do it yourself with a queen and a few attacking units in any game with some downtime.

I got it playing normally in a long macro game with burrowed roach vs HT+sentry micro. Might be you need some luck even then, but at least it's possible to get in a normal game.

It's easier than it might seem, just make a game coop game vs easy ai, tech straight to lair + burrow (+claw). You can just use 1 roach to hold off easy ai small armies and regen hp that way. Optional if you haven't done it then, is to just mass infestor and do those achievements too, at least what I did.
In a real 1v1, it's probably close to impossible, except maybe intentially running in/out some static defense of a lower skilled opponent.

Just make a game with a friend, burrow a roach and have your buddy attack it with a zergling and an overseer. Eventually you might get it ;P

You could try some stupid stuff like burrowing a roach near a cannon and moving in and out of cannon range. Your enemy might notice what you're doing and just let you do it. Or he just doesn't care about a single roach.

Flowchart to getting achievement:
Are you gosu? Yes => Get it sooner or later No => Are you in copper? Yes => Someone out there is bad enough No => Too bad

Co-op vs. AI counts as a league game. Should be very easy to get the achievement this way, unless you are really terrible at microing one roach.
The only achievement that is not possible in the Co-op modes is Meet the Spy, because I've never seen changelings used by the AI.

I actually got the achievement in a normal game. It was a 3v3. Basically the game was already over (we were losing terribly) but I still had some roaches with upgrades. So I took a single one, moved it towards a big ball of marines, took some damage, burrowed and moved away, and repeated a few times. The guy didn't even feel like chasing the roach (or just didn't notice). In team games anything can happen
Also, if you play a normal 1v1 you can ask your opponent if he will help you with it. Some players (apparently) don't mind helping out with achievements. Good luck anyway!

I dunno how this is possible. I play 2v2 co-op vs AI, 3v3 co-op vs AI, and couldn't get "professionals have standards" (kill 20 units with snipe) and my friends couldn't get "infested terror" (kill 30 units with infested terrans). I dunno how you people do this, I'm beginning to think it's an urban myth. Both the roach's life and the 2 achievements we tried to do are in the "league" subsection. We tried both vs easy and medium AI, for over an hour to get achievements, did not work.

I got the achievement by rushing burrowed roaches in ZvZ. The enemy had spores and spines and I had to do hit and run attacks to kill him.
It was a long battle but I eventually got the achievement and won the game.

I did it in a 2v2 with people who didn't want to leave and while we were killing one of the players I used the other player's last cannon and micro'd a single roach into the cannon then burrowing it while macroing and killing the other player. Was a pretty close call though, just as I got it, the game ended.
|
Accidentially got it in a 2v2 where my partner defended our bases while I did burrowed roach shenanigans in the enemy bases.
I'd say basically you need to find an enemy bad enough not to get proper detection for a long enough time. Will happen to you too, sooner or later.

if you re not playing 2v2 3v3 then do it now, it will match you up against bad players, many cases stubborn ones too, which wont quit and have some canons here or there. move in and out regenerate till you get it. Though it's a theory only, i havent got it, im nit that big of an achievment hunter
|
Yeah I got all those achievements and you should really do it in a team game with your friends so you all know what each of you are going. As someone above said, the roach and phoenix ones are best done vs static defense. If you do this at really low levels you can get really nice unit comps like infestor/roach + ghost/raven/bc + phoenix/stalker and just alternate who goes what until you get all the silly points.

I easily got this twice (once in beta) doing mass roach burrow aainst psi storm toss. Seriously. You regen every 80 dmg storm so it adds up very quickly. (I think the first time I got it was when I managed to beat mTwkAra in beta phase 2.)
|
I got both the Roachs Live and the Frugal Fighter where you have to regenerate 500 shields on a single protoss unit. Just wanted to gloat :D acc Butcherski.420 or EU.
|
I got the achievement completely accidentally in a 3v3 game. I did an early nydus roach push into enemy zerg base, he repelled it and I QQ. Play the game for 15 minutes, achievement pops up. ---> me: WTF? *looks around for possible roach* *find random hero roach in enemy zergs base that has been there for 15 minutes* me: O.O
Now that I think about it, I really, really should have saved that replay. Damn.
