But the thing is it didn't just end on TL =_=. After I made this post I gathered my things to get ready to go visit Five Guys for a burger. I left my last stupid post and was off.
On the road, I was still fuming. I cooled off a bit after writing the blog, but I let myself get waaaaay too agitated by some replies. As a result, there was a bit of road rage. A guy cut me off... I get mad and speed up, I cut him off, he gets mad, he speeds up and cuts me off, I get more mad and go to speed up again but by that time it was a bit too late to cut him off again.... So yeah at least I'm not in the hospital.
I'm really a nice guy. Nice and friendly, but when I get mad I just can't seem to control my anger. Oh well, some of us just can't help but be like that. But next time I start raging I'll be more careful about the way I vent it...
The reason for that is not just because I nearly died in a car accident but also because its a waste of time. After that night I cooled down the next day (thanks to the ban lol) and sat down to think up ways to deal with this nice strategy.
2 Gate against my 14p 15h is effective, not as effective as a quick 4gate push, but its safe. There's a lot of ways to go around with 2gate, it's a surprisingly flexible build to do if you have the right game sense for it. Sending in your initial zealots to poke around holes, if there's a weakness they will exploit it, if not, just force the zerg opponent to over compensate as much as possible and attempt to expand while preparing for a push from the Zerg player. It's not a cheesy all-in strat, it's very nice and legitimate and I like it.
So after thinking about it from the Protoss' point of view, I went back to try to fix my problems against the build. If I overcompensate, and decide to 1 base very heavily I'll eventually fall behind as the Toss player starts to get a bit of tech and expo without any danger. If I go for the usual super macro style I like, he'll be able to abuse me to no end.
So in the face of a 2gating Protoss player I've decided to take the obvious most effective solution- which ironically enough has been the main objective of every Zerg macro oriented player. Figure out a way to pump as many drones as possible and just have enough units to defend. Being angry there was no way for me to sit down and figure out how exactly to do that against the 2Gate nor even think along the lines of how to follow that Golden rule.
All I had to do was just Delay the expansion. Some people suggested trying some heavy one base stuff and punishing the Toss player for not being able to keep up in production, but that would be a very all-in-ish type of move I would want to avoid. So just getting a few lings in the beginning, and simply just sitting infront of the Toss players base is enough to delay the initial push considerably. With just 6 Lings you'll force the Toss player to wait for the 3rd or 4th zealot before pushing out. Within that time you'll be able to either make 1 crawler and a few roaches, or 2 crawlers and a bunch of lings.
Plus while they are stuck inside their base waiting for that 3rd - 4th Zealot to come out you can drone up quite a bit. From there on it could turn into a pretty normal game.
All of this thinking didn't take up much time at all =_=. In the time I was raging over it I could have solved all my troubles. But Fuck, people like me just can't help but get mad and lose control of ourselves.
After trying out my ideas against that 2 Gate build, I had some good results. Some Toss players were too scared to even push out because of a possible bad Ling run-by lol. Most of them decided to Expo, in that situation I made a strong push and that was the end of it.
Now my next problem is Toss players who straight up FE quickly after a 2gate. If I don't make that conscious decision to make a timing push before w/e tech they want to make comes out, then whatever advantage I have will go to hell. You quite literally have to make some sort of push as a Zerg player against Protoss at some point in the game if he FE's. Otherwise the Toss player can just Tech up to whatever he needs and destroy your army regardless of how many units you have. A saturated 2 base Toss VS a 2 base saturated Zerg- When the Toss makes that push, chances are pretty high that he will win, so the Zerg must Push to buy time to get up a third expo and the tech he needs for the next battle which will most likely be a battle between who loses the advantage completely and who barely manages to keep it.
I apologize for the Blog the other day, if any of those readers happen to read this. Even I think I sounded like an idiot.
