I was having a good run last week. Brought myself from 600 points all the way to 1k+ points in the Diamond League. Now today I just lost like 6 games in a row, to Protoss players. I've encountered a lot of irritating strategies, from banelings wars, banelings rushes, reaper all-ins, 2 gate proxies..- you name it. It was only a few weeks ago when I've finally gotten myself accustomed to those sort strats and just dealt with it as it is and not get mad.
But today... I'm on the verge of raging. I logged off just before I could hit the "Find Match" button out of frustration. The Toss players I'm facing today are doing something different from what I'm usually used to playing against. Most Toss players I've seen tend to do the same 4gate, or the pheonix/Void ray harrass, which I've learned how to deal with effectively.
However... today Toss players decided to try a more aggressive build that revolves around several waves of attacks. They would open up 2gate and stream zealots into my base. Fortunately I'm not a complete noob so usually I would be able to get my roaches in time and a spinecrawler to defend. Then I would go back to droning. I scout a 2nd attack coming, and it was bigger than the first attack (How could they support so many units off 1 base??) and I would only barely defend that attack. I'd go back to droning and attempt to tech with what few resources I had.
After so much death I was left with a very weak economy, - and with the fear of getting attacked again I kept pumping a few more units until I was satisfied (should I have just droned =_= and risk getting pushed to my death again?) By the time I could safely drone up the damn protoss player had expanded to a 2nd base and teched up to whatever unit that could deal with my units easily. So in the end I would not be able to come up with the tech, the economy, or the units to fight when the final big battle came.
That's what I had for the majority of my games. I must admit its pretty damn good strat against a macro-oriented Zerg player. I honestly don't know what to do against it. Maybe I should have said, Fuck it all, and just go on the offensive right after the 1st push was done to fuck with his head, because getting 2gate pushed sure fucks with my mind.
Besides that I saw some other neat things like a goddamn insane warp gate tech rush + 5 gateways and proxy pylons all around my base. The dude literally had like 10+ zealots by the time my defenses were up at my natural. There was also a colossus rush which I just made a silly mistake on my part and ended up losing... well I was tilt by then.
Being so used to getting pushed by a 4gate, I was completely thrown off guard today by how many players did not do the 4gate.
*sigh* I'm so mad... no one is in Ventrilo that I can cry to. Hey at least you guys get to hold out your buckets and collect my tears.
Blogging is actually a really good way to blow off steam. Shit I don't even care if no one reads or if this gets closed. It's a legitimately good way to cool off, just by typing out the pain and suffering a person receives when they go on a losing streak.
But my question here for this blog is... Should I be mad or frustrated when someone does something I've never seen or something very clever? Should I be mad when a Protoss player boxes his units and sends them at me to no end without taking much damage to his own economy? Honestly I'm pretty conflicted about whether or not I should give Toss players the golf clap with this nice counter to a macro Zerg player. I mean hey its not cheese, its just a really good strong strategy to use against Zerg. And I happened to not have an answer for it.
Well that made me feel better... I'm going to shamelessly post my garbage replays on the strategy forum and ask for help. Every time I overcome these hurdles I leap ahead in rating.
I learn how to beat cheese- I get promoted to diamond
I learn how to handle all-ins - I become a mid-level diamond player
I learn how to deal with players with a brain that says "oh no my all-in will not work" - I move onto the 950 - 1100 rating.
Now if I make it over the "players who are good" hurdle maybe I'll get past 1100 points.
I hit the preview button, and holy shit I typed a lot. That's just how frustrated I am. Fuck, onto the strategy forum.

2 gate forces you to play -super- reactive as zerg, not that you're not doing that anyway but it's sort of an extreme with that opener.
Keep a few speedlings at his natural and constantly poke in and out to get an idea of his unit numbers and composition. If he goes for a push, you can sometimes do a run by and smash all of his probes. Make sure you build an overseer as soon as your lair finishes too as that's your only way to get a definite look at his base.

If you don't want your opponent dictating the pace of the game, you shouldn't be playing zerg.

Alright, I've got it. I'm gonna go buy a fat burger from Five Guys, come home, sit down, and mass custom games doing 1base builds against everyone until I confident enough to use it in a ladder game. There's been plenty of progames out there where a Zerg wouldn't get a hatch until like 25 or 30 food, and i believe its for a good reason.

I don't think the game's balanced but that's not reason to rage at every new strat you have trouble with. Just play the game instead of whining and trust the company behind the game to patch it in due time. Did you know they're increasing zealot build time to help zergs deal with this?
I have to wonder, why do people take a game so seriously? "Pain and suffering" over a single digit losing streak in a new game over a strategy that blizzard said they're gonna nerf in the next patch. This guy needs some perspective.

Is he raging at every new strat he plays against? No. Hes just mad at one strategy that is definately OP on some maps. Hes using a blog to vent off some steam. Do you need to make a comment about someone getting frustrated?
Why do people take the game seriously? Because its their hobby. Some people like to take their hobbies seriously. If you don't want to then thats fine, but you shouldn't look down on anyone for what they do in their own time. Also just because it might be fixed one day doesn't make it any less annoying today. Actually its more annoying today because they went ahead and let everyone know what specifically is really imbalanced so you end up playing against these ridiculous all ins back to back when you probably want to play against something else/fair.

To the banned OP, 2 gate is by no means "smart" as you put it. In fact the whole point of 2 gating is to mess with zerg's early economy. It is also extremely common in the EU servers.
You should learn to read your opponents better and respond appropriately. Raging over something as simple as 2 gating is like raging cause you dropped some extra mayonnaise in your salad.

Actually have to agree this is pretty effective. Who says the toss has to attack with the 2gate? The threat of even 4 zealots is enough to force a disproportionate response. Then I'm usually able to cmofortably 4 gate expo or expo then add on additional gates. The zerg doesn't expo during the whole time because he's expecting the usual 2gate zealot push.
Theory crafting here: My pushes generally tend to start with a pretty heavy zealot focus. How would banelings work for you in this? I know this doesn't solve the whole problem, but 1 decisive victory should be enough to give you a decent space of time to power or figure out what you want to do.

And see, I'm in the boat where I've started to rage at Zerg. I had a lot of fun FEing into sprawling fun, macro games that I usually lost.
Now when I FE I get 1-base Mutad or 1-base hydrad and know how you guys feel. I've just given up on you guys and I now 4gate to victory :D
