Looked around and there isn't really a thread like this so here it goes:Try to keep the nostalgia to a minimum guys!
What does everyone think of the new banner? Better? Worse? Same? My opinion: Pros of the old banner:
- Nostalgic? - HORSES! - Light, whimsical tone Cons of old banner: - Looks kinda gay - The font sucks - Blurry
Pros of the new banner:
- Looks more awesome - Sleek and professional - The horse logo is pretty cool and could easily become an identifiable logo for TL - Darker blue, again more professional - THEY STILL KEPT THE HORSES Cons of the new banner: - Dropdown meanu looked kinda better before.
Curious to hear your thoughts

New one is definitely better. The new horse logo makes me think of chess, which is fitting for a strategy gaming site.
Also, it looks a lot less gay.

The new design is clearly better... but I have some gripes:
-- mouse-over menus are annoying (and cover the news header) -- the (old) white text over the banner should be incorporated into the layout somehow -- the font needs some work (spacing between letters, 'm' is huge in 'team' )

I actually love the new font. So much cleaner and professional looking.

new one's better, its more fitting for sc2 the new era.

In hindsight, I can't believe I had a slight doubt.

There aren't many websites I've seen that hasn't lost half its users from a bad site overhaul. Whatever they did, they had the right mindset, don't try to do too much, make sure every change is actually an improvement on the original, don't make changes that are not an improvement to the site.
The PR was excellent too, hardcore fans are conservative, TL knew that and made a post telling them that nothing has changed, and indeed it is still the same great site, with the same great feel. Its very easy to bungle a site overhaul, but TL executed this very well, and made it not look like one.
I kinda wish Blizzard had this same approach with SC2 *jokingly.

New one definetly is nice still prefer the old one though because it gives a calming feel of freedom.

It's more professional imo. And TL having a professional team competing at the highest level I think it was well worth a change looking good in and out the game!
+ Show Spoiler +The pro's under the new banner doesn't have "HORSES" (like the pros under the old banner) because the horses are still there in the bg so technically it was just a small "upgrade" without changing the identity of TL

I totally agree about the drop down menu's!! The old ones were far superior. But the new banner is way better.
|
I prefer the new one I think, but change is always hard to deal with.
|
I prefer the old one but as soon as I saw they were changing it I expected so much worse than this. I'm happy with it. It looks great (should have had faith in TL...).

New one is clearly better Horses were super epic on the old one :O

The site in general looks cleaner, more current, and more elegant. Pretty good job to keep all the good things from the old TL.net and updating it.

Do you guys have to keep "Original banner artwork: Jim Warren" on the bottom or did you forget to get rid of it? New banner looks nice though.

The new banner looks really clean. Love it

New banner still has the horses in it = I'm okay with it.
