But spotted a continuity error already.
Kerrigan takes off her headset with her left hand.
In the next shot, she drops it from her right hand.

If it was an FPS I could understand but RTS is a "disconnecting" from the characters and storyline and is more focused on the actual gameplay then anything else. Brood War was really about as in depth as you could get in terms of story. I would see this movie though Sorry, but that's bullshit Why is it impossible for an RTS game to give a great storyline? Moreso it would be even MORE compelling and interactive than an FPS game, because it lets you get a bigger picture and interact with the environment in different ways.... In Starcraft 2, you are not disconnected from the characters in any way... you get to play INGAME, you get to play out of the battlefield, inside the hyperion.. walk around with jim raynor and others... talk to all... listen to news... watch planet info... watch stuff and do stuff while not doing missions.. on top of that.. there is cinematics and ingame cinematics.. how is this not BY FAR alot more in depth than ANY game ever released virtually? and certaintly Starcraft 1... you seem like a troll

While I don't totally agree with Spenguin, I definitely disagree that an RTS could be 'more compelling' and 'interactive' — controlling large armies is so much more detached and impersonal than controlling one single identifiable character, as you do in an RPG or FPS.

This video mixed CG + in game and it annoys me... definitely worse graphics than the CG in Diablo II. However if it's just a trailer, it's a pretty damn good one.

But that's the point in Starcraft 2. You DON'T actually ONLY control large armies. You get to control heroes, single types of people who are in the story ON the battlefield. PLUS you get to interact with these characters only OUTSIDE of the battlefield.. in the STORYMODE campaign aspect of the game, which is totally different from the battlefield large army stuff.. so you see... RTS can be just as rich on story and depth as any other genre can.. just takes quality and professional people with good ideas to do it. And Blizzard fits the bill perfectly.

However I did forget the interactive parts that you mentioned (hyperion scenes etc.). So maybe that will bring the player into the world of Starcraft 2, however I still believe that RTS gameplay (read: top-down view, constantly mining, macro) is not a factor that will bring a player into the games own world but instead forces the player to be constantly thinking about macro, micro, defending and attacking that the story won't have the time to get across.

I would see this movie though I haven't played a game in 12 years of quite avid gaming which I enjoyed the story of more than starcraft. Resistance fall of man was pretty good, I enjoyed the narration and it was set in the UK which is a rare pleasure. But even story heavy games like dragonage and mass effect have not captured my imagination like SC did . But then I was about 16-17 when SC was released so maybe it was just the last great game I played as a child. My all time top games ever are: StarCraft+BW Myth: TFL + SB FFVII I am a sucker for a well told story! I wish it was Tuesday already.

We could speak about the same idea on FPS, i mean all that controlling around and aiming and fulfilling objectives and dying in one spot over and over until you find the way around it, maybe on an RPG isn't that notorious but also having to decide whether you should cast magic, summon, heal, attack, switch etc. i believe its independent to how in depth someone can actually get when multitasking, i mean half of the macro i do is mechanic the other half is based on reacting and once my brain notices and reacts it makes more mechanic actions which i am not fully operating as they are mostly automated, micro ... all games micro in a certain way of their own, and a second factor that lets you actually take a good deep jump into the story is how well it is told in an RTS for example is how it is told by briefings, objectives, in-game events, in-game cinematics, debriefs and more things i could list, that are not only part of the RTS genre but a part of videogames themselves. So getting a deep experience based on a genre is only circumstantial to the player ^^. CG worse than DIABLO II? not really i think actually its their best CGI made by blizz and maybe by most companies..... cgi + in game isnt bad it gives you a taste of all the ideas in the game but u got something right its an awesome trailer :D

You realize the campaign won't just be spawning at a base and destroying the other player's base just like ladder is? Blizzard has said(I don't remember where) but there is going to be a variety of gameplay such as the part of the campaign they showed a while back before beta started. Also you get to pick your mission paths from between missions from inside the hyperion so it will not at all have the player constantly thinking about "macro, micro, defending and attacking."

There are no lasers in space too, are u going to complain about that too then ? It would make movies like star trek and star wars and basically any other space movie suck.. because the effects of reality is simply impossible in space films.. Space is very VERY cold, there is no sound.. and no light.. becauuse there is no reflection... so big explosions and big lasers are NOT possible... since there is no oxygen and no light/audio waves present to travel in any medium in space... just a fyi
