I am currently Stationed at the Wanping Hotel in Shanghai.
5 months ago it would not have ever occurred to me I would ever see China or anything near it. When not in Shanghai, I live in Lima Peru, 11 hours difference from here and about 25 air travel distance. Now all of a sudden, having spent about 6 weeks over the last 3 months here, I feel sooo close to the distant world which used to be surreal to me. I am so close to korea too. So close to the starleagues, the proleagues, to a world I have digitally consumed for the last 7 years or so, since the days when I used to watch Grrrr and Elky and Garimto and that epic WCG game where Josez (Peruvian!) beat Boxer on Halls of Valhala...
So close to SNSD (oh oh oh oh..) and god I´m going crazy here in China cause I am definitely a fan of asian girls...
I want to move here. I am TOTALLY planning on moving here. This is just an personal, diary-esque announcement.
WHAT am I doing here? I am an Architect. Fresh fresh fresh out of school (25) and in charge of supervising the construction for the Peruvian Pavilion for the SHANGHAI expo 2010. This is all just so beyond me.
Me at the pav.
I have an SOS to add to this little story. I AM GOING CRAZY waiting for the Torrent to the 3rd 4th place winners league match. I cannot breach the Great China Firewall to watch youtube and it seems the torrents for this epic clash are low priority since everyone uses youtube nowadays.
If anyone has any tips as to what to do in this pickle I would love any suggestions.
AND finally, If there are any TL Shanghainese here that want to hang or show me to a PC bang here (are there any) I would be MOST grateful.
PEACE, PK

Lol well, regarding SC matches, you can now watch them live! No need to wait 'til 3 in the morning lol.
I think, with good internet connection, you can still access livestream, but if you want, you can watch the Chinese stream at 1.plu.cn.
VODs are at http://www.wfbrood.com/xingji/scvod (shameless plug lol~), we update them really fast, usually starts even before a match is finished.
About the firewall, I'm not sure but I think you can just use VPN. My friends back in China said that this is the most reliable method.

wfoperational i owe you a Beer. I dont want to be spoiled about this but I cant understand anything on that page. I think this is a good thing because I dont want to spoil the games for myself. I cant find the 3rd 4th place match but I dont want to keep looking cause Im afraid of spoiling it for myself...

can you link me to the place where the first match might be? :D lol Chinese people are weird like this... they don't care much about the spoiler, in fact, when I was suggesting to put an anti-spoiler system in the website, there were so many complains, I was like, "lol screw this".
So... be very careful when opening these links... The player names are on the title bar so... yeah Game 1: + Show Spoiler + Game 2: + Show Spoiler + Game 3: + Show Spoiler + Game 4: + Show Spoiler + Game 5: + Show Spoiler + Game 6: + Show Spoiler + Game 7: + Show Spoiler +
And, I might consider going back to China this summer, so IF you decide to stay a bit longer, I'll definitely come to Shanghai or whereever you've decided to stay at and say hi lol.

I learned them all with Pimsleur´s course which is a method I would recommend to anyone looking to learn a language.
