This really pisses me off.. I have the suggest drivers (196.21) that Blizzard and other players are recommending, I completely cleaned the inside of my computer and took special care of the video card, I'm not running any other programs except AIM, I'm running the game on the suggested settings for my setup (all on medium), and.. THIS SHIT KEEPS CRASHING?
I've been keeping count.. ..and that's now 19 wins (finishing off opponent) turning into loses because of crashes. ..and 28 other matches turning into losses after less than 5 minutes into the match. ..and 24 matches turning into losses in the middle of the match when things are getting exciting.
I got demoted from platinum down to gold because so many crashes are costing matches.
And that's just from my 1v1s.. there's easily the same amount, if not more, crashes when I 2v2 with my girlfriend out of the 150 matches we've played together (we're in platinum with a record of like 65-77 now because of the crashes).
So fucking retarded. I could do a fresh power on and after the first match it would crash, or it would let me play like 15-20 matches then crash. It's so random and it costs me so many matches..
Here's my thread on the Battle.net forums: http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=23710861388&sid=5000 ..all of their recommendations to fix the problem aren't working.
Has anyone suffered from this and found a way to fix it?

Wait doesn't that mean all you need to do is to restart your computer after every 15 games =p

Maybe your video card is overheating? my 8800gt was getting really hot on the recommended settings, had to turn up fan speed
|
How do I do that? The NVIDIA Control Panel program doesn't have anything for fan settings.. that I can see.

|
Hacks! Mine doesn't show that performance section. And yes my card has a fan. I have a GeForce 8600 GTS 256mb OC'd.

for the performance section you have to dl ntune which doesn't work for windows 7 last i check. rivatuner is a good alternative.

Is it just the game that crashes or does your whole computer lockup?

It is for sure a problem with the NVIDIA drivers because it causes the video card to crash and return a "no signal" result to both my monitors. The only thing I am left to do each time is do a master reset. And when I do reset and log back into Windows it says the drivers crashed. Furthermore, it is only SC2 that causes this to happen. Other games work fine.

I have the EXACT same problem! It's sooo frustrating. I've posted on the bnet tech support site and after 4 days I've still not received help from them. I can't even play 1 game before things lock up. Good luck and be sure to post a solution if you find one. Have you altered the variables.txt file like the bnet forums suggest? None of those worked for me. BTW it isn't just Radeon cards because mine is an ATI.

What's specs of your PC? How about install Windows XP on new partition, install nesscesary drivers and SC2B only. If you are now using 196.21, try to use an older one and see how it goes...

genuine LOL here
..and sorry to hear it Spartan. There are new drivers out (not the recalled ones, but in beta lol), though I doubt that will do it. I'd be curious what your temps are but I doubt Starcraft2 (especially at less than max settings) is overheating you any more than any other game, unless the only other game you play is Brood Wars

I had severe problems with my pc too. I kept getting thrown back to the desktop due to game locking up, occasional blue screens. I removed one stick of memory, put shaders on normal and now I don't have the problems anymore. Might be a small chance that if you check your memory there's a problem there.

Spartan, So, I said I'd update you with if I figured anything out...Well, I was thinking that maybe I wasn't getting enough power and that my comp would freeze up because of lack of power. So, I replaced my cheap 580 watt PSU single rail +12V w/ a better 530 W dual rail and I can run the game w/o any crashes. I have to put the game on low settings because I don't have the greatest graphics card. I tried it on medium but that locked up my computer. So, try a different, more powerful/efficient PSU and see if that helps? Good luck man!

Sometimes people have the CPU overclocked pretty high which requires more power from PSU. If you have a pretty demanding GPU and the CPU and GPU + all other hardware require more power than is allotted (due to OC the CPU or GPU), the game may crash because maybe you were in an intense battle and the GPU/ CPU was having to work harder and use more power. Solution to this would be either to get a new PSU with more wattage or get rid of the overclocking. If this is not it, it could possibly be that your graphics are overheating after continual use. You need to install RivaTuner or EVGA precision to control GPU temps and fans. Good luck

So I borrowed a much better graphics card from my work today and hooked it up (HD 4870) and I was able to play the game on high graphics without it locking up on me. So I've concluded that it's my PSU. Obviously the better GPU let me play the game on a much higher graphics setting but ultimately it came down to my old PSU not providing enough power to my GPU. Hope this helps!
