i play ddr occasionally and have a decent mat that is for ps2 which i bought a connector for and hooked it up to my pc. .
i use the mat strictly for ddr but recently i found out that the arrows actually take place of the keyboard arrows, so if i put it on the floor and sit in front of it i can scroll through pages with my feet pretty easily.. not really practical, but i do it out of boredom mostly. .
so naturally this got me thinking about using the feet arrows as the keyboard arrows and moving the screen around in starcraft.. it works, and at first i was clumsy as hell with it but with some adjustments to speed, sensitivity, etc. . i ended up being pretty good at it and found it actually useful in huge army vs army situations. .
so.. is using this cheating? i don't think the iccup anti-hack picks up on it. . and if the community deems it as an advantage i will stop but i must say i still suck with it (D+ zerg was best rank) and it's TONS of fun.. plus a little exercise in the heat of the moment
so even if you think this is wrong, i suggest you at least try it, that is if you have a console to usb adaptor and a dance mat. :D
That's interesting as hell and I'd love to see it in action, but I'm going to have to call that an unfair advantage. Having to scroll across the map is a constraint that forces choice, which having the mat nullifies, imo.
That's pretty ingenious, boxer would love it since he used the arrow keys when he played.
I'm gonna go ahead and say use it, but good luck trying to use it anywhere else, and in the highly unlikely situation that you become very good it would be looked down upon heavily. So learning to play with it and then taking it away when it gets serious is only fucking yourself.
I have to say that using the mat to scroll is pretty cool hahaha. If you can use it and it's set up I'd say sure use it. Obviously you'll have to do some explaining if you want to use it in tournaments haha. Pretty cool.

But he has remapped his keys to another thing that isn't his keyboard.
Even remapping hotkeys to different places on your keyboard is considered cheating in starcraft, so of course this is cheating.
However I agree with the 'As long as you aren't planning on using it in a tournament, this doesn't really matter...so go for it' sentiment.

Yes OP asked for people's opinion on this.
so if you put your foot up on your desk and press the arrow keys with it thats cheating too?
No, you can handle you're keyboard however you want. Thing is, he uses an additional and non standard keyboard. You cannot use some big gamepad with all the keys mapped on starcraft keystrokes either. (or macroing keys, that hits "0p" automatically every 13 sec)
