If I were going to make money off of this I would probably pay for the opinions/insight of IT people. I'm just helping out my employer who just so happens to be one of my best friends.

Sounds more like his employer wants to get high-tech working aids for his employees for a better/more efficient working environment.

I think before good advice can be offered you'll need to elaborate on what your company does.... that's not to say that a good general discussion of emerging technology in the workplace cannot be had...

Always go with the new tech

At first I was skeptical about putting GPS trackers in the cars because I thought it would be violating the trust or whatever of our employees but it's actually saved the company so much money.
You'd be surprised how many field employees start their day at noon and clock out at 3 all the while putting 8-5 on their timesheets. It's also comforting knowing that if the cars are ever stolen we could locate them from any computer with internet access.

edit: quote from wikipedia
"Home care aims to make it possible for people to remain at home rather than use residential, long-term, or institutional-based nursing care. Home Care providers render services in the client's own home. These services may include some combination of professional health care services and life assistance services."

what CRM software is your company using? Customer Relationship Management

None as of yet but I can't see how this could help us. Isn't CRM a system for customers to basically have better communication with the company? Like tracking orders and stuff?
If I'm completely wrong could you explain it to me?

This field is fairly different from mine so I can't offer technological advice, but I'll point out something (common sense I suppose): new technology is only as good as how you implement it. Whatever you decide to use, it will most likely take a lot of time, work, and dedication to fully take advantage of its potential. I find a lot of people/companies assume that purchasing new technologies will almost magically increase productivity.
edit: and it's the same with emerging educational technology: GIVE THEM SMARTBOARDS AND KIDS WILL LEARN!!!
