When I auditioned last november and heard I was in, I had the urge to write a blog post about it (I never blog, really). I didn't back then, and today I thought I'd do a little write-up to let people know about the choir that has brought me so much joy in the past few weeks!
Het Nederlands Studenten Kamerkoor is a choir project that is held every year with 36 singers. Most of them are new, only 7 of the singers (the ones that organise the whole project) already know each other. This creates a great feel of a group that has to get to know each other in order to make great music together!
After three weekends of intensive rehearsal, we finally went on a rehearsal week to Germany the 11th of this month. Our repertoire is modern classical music. We mix relatively well-known (English-writing) composers like Arvo Pärt with Dutch composers no one has ever heard of (not even our Dutch public). The result is a unique concert!
So far we've done five concerts, two in Germany (Nürnberg, Neustadt), and three in the Netherlands (Nijmegen, Utrecht, Leiden). The Leiden concert was yesterday, and now we've got a week of rest before we do our final three concerts. I'm very excited and hope we can keep up the energy we've had so far.
I think this is enough info for one blog post and won't tire you with more of my enthousiasm. Anyway, if you happen to be near Groningen, Leeuwarden, or Amsterdam next weekend, I recommend you consider coming to our concert. It's like nothing you've heard/seen before! This is the site (terrible site by the way, just turn off the sound and you'll be ok): www.nskk.nl
