It's worse for them ESPECIALLY since they're both watching the same screen and focusing on the same thing at the same time.

Actually its more about lack of sleep. Their(artosis/tasteless) casts at WWI/Blizzcon + WCG were fantastic

Why so serious man, it's not like you guys actually need the commentary to understand what's happening in the game. Them being funny is so much more entertaining.

there was so little analysis in the casts. it was mostly pointing out the obvious. I like their jokes but if there's nothing else it becomes tedious.

Well I guess I didn't factor in the fact that its 4:30 korean time. That really sucks :s

Nah that was because they were casting to a wider audience, they had to be more serious. In TeamLiquid everyone knows them, they even post in the threads, they loose up much more and tell a lot of jokes cause they also know that they don´t have to explain everything that's going on cause the audience has some knowledge.

it's cuz he's tries to help the other person casting with him cuz he's such a nice guy =D

Yep, that's my problem with their casts this TSL - nothing added that the average (with a little experience) spectator of brood war wouldn't notice. Actually, many viewers noticed MORE things than they mentioned.

It's because they spend too much time figuring out clever jokes and too little time watching the game it seems
They're funny and I laughed alot but it's at the expense of quality commentary some times
This is why I think Chill is the most solid commentator because he doesn't go overboard and loose himself in jokes or smaller aspects of the game. I mean, Tasteless is hilarious and good in general and Artosis is really good and insightful when on his own, but them two together creates some sort of comedy contest which results in 60% focus on jokes and 40% focus on the games being played.
That being said, Tastosis rules when they focus. I mean really rules. After all this is a "professional" tournament with a sponsor putting up a shitload of cash, which should warrant a tad more professionalism in my humble opinion.

Ah, it was hilarious today... I'll forgive the small missing things, and non linkage with obs.

I definitely enjoy their casting but they do miss stuff with all their shenaniganry.
Like in game 5, JF's scouter probe killed one of SEn's mining drone's and they said nothing. If it was proleague, you woulda heard PROB PROBU DRONUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU AHAHAHA YAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Yeah, that one comes to mind. If Artosis would commentate that by himself he would have called it a "HUGE" thing.

There is a lot of lack of professionalism in their casts. Chill is probably the best caster out of all 4 of them. Seriously, Tasteless and Artosis need to focus on the game and make sensible comments. It seems like they are on drugs while casting this or something, it's really not good at all. I'm glad they casted third place so we don't have to hear them for the finals. Sometimes they say good things when they focus, but most of the time its just really bad commentary.

Honestly, I think a fair amount of the "lack of quality" of their casts is due to the fact that they do not share a screen - this creates a disunity between the two, and can cause them to miss important events of the game. Having a dedicated observer allows for one person to just try and focus on finding important events during the game, while the casters can focus on why these are important, how they impact the game, etc etc. 5 A.M. Doesn't help either. You try casting a game that late and tell me how it goes.

Their humor is enough for me. I know Starcraft well enough to comment the events on my own but that is not as enjoyable. I'm sure some of the people here are in the same boat as I am but are merely complaining for the sake of complaining.

For me the commentary is just about having something to listen to while i watch the games because just listening to music and the sound effects can get tedious if you watch more than a couple games in succession. Personally I like Chill's commentary the most because I feel he points out the kind of things I like to hear. This means I also end up liking the Chill/Day9 team better than the other.
I should however point out that my wife (who just recently learned what a pylon does) seems to like Artosis and Tasteless better. Their commentary is much more accessible to someone who knows nothing about Starcraft. She needs help to understand what buildings and units do and needs to constantly be reminded of who is ahead. And it doesn't matter that the information is inaccurate or simplified. I think, if anything, Tasteless and Artosis' greatest weakness as a team is that they are relatively similar in casting styles.

I have done live commentary before. Sure, it's difficult, but it's definitely feasible. It might be difficult because they are watching the same screen or it might be easier. The person who isn't talking can be looking at the minimap quite vigilantly and catch anything that is missed.

Yes, but you also have to listen closely to the other person's commentary, and comment on it or make some sort of judgement on what they are saying. It's not as if its just 2 people talking to themselves alternately, casting is a lot more difficult then it seems.

they're always wrong, its not even surprising anymore
