I'm in my first year of college, studying computer engineering.
Most things worked out pretty differently from what I expected, but they did work out, and I never was one to make too many plans or God forbid be consistent in anyway. After failing to get in the Architecture faculty(ridiculously low number of places), I took this as my second choice. I'm living in a city many many times larger than my hometown, and with the new burst of life and opportunities, I left my beloved home woods and hills behind.
Life is pretty good here, I still visit home in weekends every two weeks or so, it isn't very far away. School is relatively hard but I love it so far. Just have to pull my shit together a little bit and start preparing seriously for the upcoming exams in February.
My heart craves for walking the wilderness and for photography, and I feel I missed out on most of what was a great Autumn. I went camping once for an afternoon with my parents and my girlfriend, and that's about it.
I am however interested in approaching urban/architectural photography, and this large and very old city (by the name of Cluj-Napoca btw) will surely facilitate that. Portraiture is also something on my list, and regarding that, and there are so many hot chicks here it's ridiculous
Anyway, here are all my decent shots in the past four or five months, and the urban one I took this evening. The city is already decorated for the winter holidays, though this was not a main street, it appealed to me for unknown reasons. I know the shot is not that good, but I'm quenching my thirst the best way I can, given the circumstances.
As always, it's my pleasure to share, and feedback/criticism is greatly appreciated!

beautiful!

those photographs look are professional..
|
Thank you, and no, they are not. NeverGG's are much more professional (for example), although that's a whole different style, which I'm afraid to touch

Your story sounds a lot like mine. Going to the big city from a small rural town, having some trouble adjusting academically, but loving life otherwise. I'm planning on majoring in Comp. Sci. so that's not too far off either.
P.S. Those pictures look excellent.

whoa this quality with "just" a eos 400d? thats pretty crazy, especially for that first photo what lens? did you use ND grad? is that a HDR? what photoshop adjustments have you done? sorry for the questions, but these are really impressive

Also, I turned my ears (well, my soul) back towards the Metallica discography alot these days.
Poll: Metallica is FUCKING AMAZING (Vote): Yes (Vote): No, and I'm a loser.

holy... wow, those look great. I love the one with the flowers next to the river. the colors are crazy cool looking!

Yeah it's just my Eos 400d with kit lens and a bit of photoshop... I think I'm gonna rob the photography hardware store long before I'll be able to afford anything, I just can't help myself. Wanna help?

It's a single shot, captured at 18 mm focal distance. I know it seems wider than usual, but I guessed the scenery played in my favor.

Wow, those are some pretty awesome pictures.
I've actually wanted to get into photography myself, but can't afford a decent camera.
Good luck in college :D

Beautiful pictures. Where do you go to school?

minus, those are beautiful pictures! I really like the "herald of autumn" picture.

I really enjoy "In The Sun". I would like to have seen a version of "summer sunset" with greater depth of field too.
Can you include EXIF information on your photos? (If that needs to be translated I refer to the metadata... ISO, aperture, Shutter speed, focal length)

spectacular pictures, and a very human story 5/5
