Unlike the last two battle reports I did, this one is special. I feel the following game I played very well, strategically and mechanically, but that's not exactly the special part. I named this a blind battle report because I took off my opponents vision while going through the replay so you only see what I had seen during the game. I did this because I will be doing captions regarding what I was thinking, what I thought I needed to do, what I thought he was doing, etc.
CAUTION: If psyonic storm makes you cringe, I recommend you don't go through this.
This is also very long!
+ Show Spoiler +
I decided to just play standard, so no proxies or anything. I scout with my probe after starting my gateway, and see that his probe has already scouted me. This means that he knows where I am and what I am doing. He could have proxied, or just scouted after pylon and found me on the first try. I make a Zealot just to be safe, and to chase the probe around. I scout the closest position first, 3 o clock.
He must he scouted after pylon then, because he didn't proxy and appears to be playing standard so far. When my core finishes I get dragoon range and a dragoon.
He built a Zealot as well, and thankfully I manage to repel his and save my probes.
My dragoon pops out and helps finish off his Zealot, who didn't manage to get any probe kills.
(Thanks to gosu probe micro of course)
Unsure of what he is going to do, I opt for 1gate robo, with fast observers. Since I didn't see him upgrading dragoon range it has to be DTs or very fast reaver.
Once my first observer finishes I send it to scout to see what he has. As soon as it passes by an oncoming DT, I rush it back to my main with my army immediately.
Because unupgraded observers are SO FUCKING SLOW, his DT is able to run into my main, but he only manages to get two probes before dying.
Since his DT rush barely did any damage I know I am ahead. I take this opportunity to expand to my natural.
Since he may have more DTs coming, I decide to keep my observer at my base until my second one is out.
Once my second ob is out I leave one at my base and send the other to scout.
I was careless with my ob and didn't watch it too close, so it died to cannons at his natural. I'm pretty sure he has taken his natural at this point.
From here I add a couple gateways and start working on my tech so I can contain him with goon/zeal/HT and just outexpand him.
If he has taken an early third it would have had to have been at the top somewhere, so I sent an ob up there to scout for expos and drops. Unfortunately I didn't send my ob far enough, so it didn't quite his 3rd warping in. On the minimap it shows that there is a building for him, but when my ob heads back left it goes away for some reason.
With 3 control groups of goons, speedzeals, and HT, my storm upgrade finishes I move out to contain him.
Thankfully, I figure he must be trying to sneak an expo to catch up, so I send my ob back above his main, but this time a little farther. I scout cannons and his nexus warping in.
Trying to match his 3rd, I take mine at 9 o clock, so I can easily secure a 4th in the main later on.
Shortly after, he moves out with his army to try to break my contain. I don't retreat because I even though our armies are similar or equal in size, I have more units attacking at once due to my positioning.
sick sick sick storms coming up!
As I start to overpower him, he retreats back to his natural behind his cannons. I kill off a few, but his defense starts to rise again, and I retreat. If I continue to push I would have probably lost my whole army.
lol noob. pwnt. Don't forget to protect your expos!
After macroing up for a bit, he moves out towards the middle and our armies clash!
My superior unit spread/flank, along with a lot of storms, wins my this fight by quite a bit.
I had some pretty bad micro here, while trying to kill his reaver since he was microing it, loading/unloading it into his shuttle(which died 1-2 seconds before this shot), so I lost a lot of units. With reinforcements coming, I feel I can push even further.
Meanwhile, I also take my 4th at the 9 o clock main.
He gets off some really good storms on my units, and with a group of goons just finished from his gateways, he kills off my remaining force without losing too much.
I would say we are about even here, or he has a slight advantage.
Shortly after, he pushes out and our armies clash again outside his natural.
His unit count is higher than mine, so I back off with my surviving force, and wait for my macro advantage from having a 4th to kick in.
After a couple minutes I push out and try to take out his contain on my natural. At the moment I thought I had this fight won, because I had a nice flank on him, but with some nice reaver micro and storms he still wins. D:
His macro tells me his has a 4th, but since I am still contained I can't do much to stop him.
I push again shortly after, and this time I win the fight. yay! :D
I also take my 5th at the top left expo.
He tries to harass me again with another shuttle, and although his scarab was following my cluster of probes, it became a dud just as it was about to blow! phew!
We must protect the maynarding probes! quickly!
Probe: meow! D:
At this point, our armies and economy are probably just about even, but then he does the unthinkable!
NO! DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE!
FFFUUUUUU
Go probes! I try to intercept the dragoons and mess them up with my probes, but he has too many. T_T
I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU, YOU BASTARD!
I'll kill all those dragoons personally.
I knew since my 5th is going to be delayed so long, I need to take out his 5th and/or 4th if he has one, before he can outmacro me. He just lost his main army, so he can't have too much to defend with.
What's this???
First, to weaken his army, I do some "storm-bys" :D
Now I own his army easily. My 3-1-3 upgrades in comparison to his 2-0-2 unleash the rape train.
While I send my main force to 12 o clock to take out his 5th, I send a small force to kill his 4th as well.
Ahahahaha you ain't got shit on me!
No GG?
^_^
Enjoy!
Ugh fucking photobucket fucked up names and order of my pictures, took like 45 mins to rearrange and fix it -_-
Anyhow, here is the replay.
That toss was about a 50% winrate korean at the C- rank, but I'd have to say that was more of a C rank game.
