You should drop the habit as soon as possible simply because when you work in a professional setting, it makes you look immature and fails to communicate effectively. in an interview i was once asked what i thought about some new feature or whatever, i don't remember the details; it was a long time ago anyway i answered "oh yeah, s'like hella cool" **awkward pause when i realized what i said** "but i mean there are many ways to improve, blah blah blah" either way i'm pretty sure that's why i didn't get that job (not that i really wanted it but still) ever since then i've banished hella from my vocab. still working on banishing 'like' though, it's pretty hard to get rid of actually i'm trying to get rid of "i'ma" too.. like "i'ma go to the store, be right back" i dont even know how the hell it makes any sense at all, my friend got me into saying that :s

oh...and accents are different...there's nothing "wrong" with an accent that shows you are a from a certain region...that's different than just colloquial expessions or shortcuts.

Have you heard someone with a thick northeastern or southern accent speak before? It doesn't matter how well thought out their speach is, you cannot take them seriously.
