Speak more slowly, it will help you concentrate on what you are saying.

I heard up in norcal people say shit like 'nasty' as in good. Example: "man you should check out those dudes, their style is mad nasty".
Hella/Hecka are so freakin bad, I lived in sac town for a while and it bugged me so much. Then It started rubbin off on me. The ridicule of my friends back in So cal broke that habit pretty quick though.

No other word bothers me more than that word. i'm in norcal. born and raised here. i use "hella" several times per day even though i've been trying to avoid it. it's hella annoying
and like Xeris said, people use the word "like" a lot. some of my friends are adding "beast" to their vocabulary as well. "so like, did you see the Warriors game last night?" "yeah like they were hella beast man"

+5 I'm from cali. I just learned to except it.

we'll be okay in california, unless we adopt the use of y'all. then we will have problems.

I use "dude" way to much and often inappropriately

Same way people get rid of accents, hard work and constant vigilance. Or electroshock therapy. I'll be glad to help with the second.

Just remember, every time you say 'like' in the incorrect way you make yourself look like a slightly overweight bleach-blond chick with super over-sized white sun glasses.

Also, just stop saying it.
The Guild?

What about the word "tight"? Growing up in norcal, in schools people (as well as me) would use that word. For example, "that's hella tight man!," "fucken tight man!" It just bascially mean "cool" or "awesome." I don't use that word no more though, grew out of it. Also another word people would use in school is "my bad." It just basically means, "my mistake" or "sorry." I think people use "my bad" in a way to apologize, but not to show that their weak directly. Used to say, "like, hella, heckla, freaken" alot growing up, but not as much anymore. I guess for me to stop using these words because in college and how I deal with professional adults, I'm forced to speak formally.
I don't have any advice for you to stop saying "like," but you can like keep trying to remind yourself to stop saying it after everytime you say it just to register that into your head everytime you make that mistake. I'm sure your subconscious will eventually register that in and you'll be aware everytime you're about to say it.

The Guild? No. It was some spoofy humorous series, compromised of 4 or 5 videos. I think it was a satire, but it seemed real to me. Thanks, for replying though. I appreciate it.
