Ok I need help i dont know WTF is going with this shit box anymore
keep it in semi-laman terms plz
1st of all, i am one of those people who closes the computer at night. Why? the fan makes a lot of noise and some ppl actually cant sleep.
Every single morning for the past few days, when i come to open the computer, it wont start. This is what it looks like, my monitor light is flashing telling me its trying to go on but wont cuz computer is fully on, but weird thing is my fuckin CD-player works. i can open the cd drive and close it whenever i want.
I have hit the restart button about 100 times until it finally fuckin opens. WHat the HELL is going on?
i used AVG.... got rid of all this shit so what is it? is there really a virus that does this shit?
i swear..... either i will die from a heart attack or this computer will find its way in the junkyard. either way one of us is leaving for good.

First check if you have a floppy in your floppy drive, sounds easy but usually those are the symptoms from what you've described.
Second, does the computer beep when it turns on? It should beep at least once, this is called P.O.S.T test or [ Power on self test ] and if it doesn't beep or beeps alot then something is definitely wrong with your hardware configuration.
Rofl, Can I be official tech support for TL net? Eh cmon admins cool name colors?. Plz^^

Have you done anything to change your configuration lately? Open your computer and make sure no cables are loose.
|
CHECK TO SEE IF THERE IS ELECTRICITY IN THE COMPUTER! If not...throw it away it's fucked up then.

Next time you get it on reformat the POS and reinstall windows. If it still gives you trouble durign startup then it is almost certainly a hardware problem.

Hi Veg,
The same thing happens to my computer. Incidentally that's why I leave my computer on all the time (you get used to it). I think the power supply is to blame. So, let's both go and buy new power supplies.

CHeck the monitor connection :|

i don't understand that sentence. why would the monitor not work because the computer is running? if the computer is fully running and your monitor stays black i'd guess the monitor is unplugged or maybe the graphics card or any plug is broken. but i wouldn't expect any of those to be broken if you didn't jump on your computer recently. does your cpu fan spin? because if the cpu gets to hot while trying to boot the computer might just switch off immediately and the fan should go off as well. maybe dl "memtest" to check your ram.
but if you didn't change the configuration my guess is there's simply a loose cable. =)
btw: this thread explains how there could be such a huge boom in the computer industry. if you guys buy a new computer everytime something doesn't work... can't remember how many times my computer wouldn't boot anymore or crashed randomly a couple of times a day and everytime i got it working again just by trying stuff i read on the internet for hours and hours.

I have had this problem for a while now. After months of trying everything in the world to fix the problem and banging my head against the desk, I have concluded that I have a hard drive problem. If I clean and defrag all my drives, and properly shut down the comp, it will usually start back up, if for whatever reason the comp gets turned off without shutting down properly(comp freezes for example) , then I may need to turn on the comp a good 10-15 times to get the monitor on. Does your comp run stable when it is on, or is it buggy?

he said semi-laman it's not easy to check if there is electricity, and a semi-laman might even hurt his tongue

i'd like to help here, as it is my occupation to do this type of work, but not over the internet, and especially not with such a lackluster description of problems. So far the smartest thing said was to simply check your monitors connection to your computer. Blinking lights, referring to the power button as "opening the computer", hammering the reset button, etc, just dont make any sense. Cant troubleshoot that.

Here is my problem, hopefully it is the same or very simliliar to what happens to Veg. When I turn on the computer and monitor, the monitor will just blink. I hear the Operating System boot up, and I can even restart from here(alt f4 righ right enter) , so apparently the computer itself is working(although buggy when on) . If I turn the comp off and on over and over, eventually the monitor will will start to work. I have takin the comp appart and cleaned it out, pushed the graphix card in more, etc.. Like I said before, when everything gets shut down properly, it might actually turn on the first try, if not then it may take all day to get the thing running.

Back everything up on DVD and reformat .

Well it'd be alot easier to help you guys if you told us what kind of PC (specifically if you built it yourself). Also, has it always been like this? What exactly happens when you start it up (beeping sounds, does anything not start). And one last thing if you know, what kind of mother board do you own?

How did you conclude it's hard drive problem? You don't even need hard drive to get the monitor on.
