ORBIFOLD'S POWER RANK CHALLENGE
Create the most anger provoking power rank possible. -Ranking must be within reason... no Hyuk for #1 -Give a brief justification for each pick. -Extra points will be given for being condescending or trolling fan boys.
Example of a good rank: + Show Spoiler +#7: fantasy: Look, everyone knows the guy is slipping. I don't know if it's him or SKT in general, but let's just hope he can pull it together soon or Estro is going to have some company at the bottom. Entries will be ranked on a scale of 1 - RAWGRHHRH.
+ Show Spoiler +or not

JWD would have already won this award, except that dropping Flash off the rank completely for going 6-2 that month probably slipped outside the 'Ranking must be within reason' rule.
Stork is doing a well enough job of trolling SKT1 fanboys at the moment, anyhow. I'll bet he was dual-boxing in all his recent wins against Fantasy, leveling his World of Warcraft character while he played Starcraft simultaneously.

6/2 is pretty pathetic actually. What is that, a measly 75% win rate?

I think like a repeat of last year, Stork is once again done dicking around and starting to play for real again.
Now the guy just needs some terrans to bash. The guy understands the metagame of PvT possibly better than any other player in history. And just so fun to watch in the matchup.

The biggest criticism against him was that he was having trouble against aggressive zergs so then he went and beat every kind of zerg imaginable that wasn't Jaedong at the time.

nice power rank.because of the lack of games this month it was probably on of the most obvious power ranks.
btw great work riptide

This would have been a great opportunity to rank the lesser-loved players and give them a little attention, the players that actually played a few games in September (example: FireFist was 10-2, Luxury was 8-2, RorO was 12-3, and Pusan was 13-0). I just don't think it was necessary to put out rankings of the S-class players who didn't do much of anything. Where's the fun?
Also, it bothers me when your don't think Jaedong's showmatch loss was enough to knock him down, yet you used a showmatch to knock up Stork's rank and knock down fantasy's. Inconsistent. Not that it matters, because none of these guys should be ranked.
Super lame.

How many games were played this month that mattered?

Super lame. I sometimes wonder if you guys read what I write at all.
"Before anyone asks, no, his loss to Bisu in Allstars is not going to nudge him down enough to drop a spot. LJD is the current OSL champion, and it's going to take more than a loss in a showmatch to dislodge him from the pinnacle of Starcraft."
"Fantasy drops down the rank this month because the PL finals are now a distant memory, and there hasn't been much going for our hero since then."
"With results being a moot point this month, it's needless to say that play itself was weighed more heavily in this PR, and by that measure Stork certainly climbs a notch up. Although he did lose to Leta on Outsider in the first week of September, his jawdropping Goon-Shuttle micro in his Allstars encounter vs Fantasy is more than deserving of a slightly inflated rank. Beautifully executing a modified Bulldog build, Dinotoss completely neutralised the SKT T1 Terran's harassment heavy play and brought smiles to the faces of Protoss players everywhere. For leading Starcraft's R&D Department this month, Stork manages to move up a rank on which others have remained largely stationary."
Are you seriously comparing Jaedong not moving one down to Stork moving one up and Fantasy moving down? Jaedong is just the best player in the world at the moment, and losing one game when you are at #1 is not the same as winning a game convincingly when you're at #8. Anyway, that's beside the point - Stork didn't move up because he won a game. He moved up because "his jawdropping Goon-Shuttle micro in his Allstars encounter vs Fantasy is more than deserving of a slightly inflated rank". So, he moved up over Kwanro, simply because he was playing better Starcraft. Fantasy moved down vs Calm and Bisu. I'd like to see anyone on TL tell me that Fantasy has been playing better than those two. You can't just relate wins and losses that occur at the very top and very bottom of the rank! Asking for consistency in how wins and losses are handled at two entirely different levels of play is just crazy.
Moving on, I agree that I could have perhaps given the people who actually did play this month a chance on the PR, and I certainly thought about this. In the end though, the Power Rank is a list of the world's best Starcraft players, and as much as I wanted to put Pusan in there, there was just no way to justify it. Maybe someone should try and come up with a separate rank made up of those who did well in the off season though, it would certainly be interesting.

After last season's Zergfest I was feeling a little bored by pro-sc, but if yesterday's MSTs are any indication this should be a really exciting season.

watch out Fantasy the PL is losing fath

I don't know where to put this, so I just say it here. If you check the game list page of hyuk, it is very scary... He is 24-5 since this July, with a win rate of over 80%, and not just over scrubs, but many strong players including JD, Savior, Horang2, Hwasin, Hero, Kal, Great, Backho, Kwanro, Hoejja, and he's in both MSL and OSL... I think we can expect to see a lot of him on future PRs.
|
It'll be a little hard considering he doesn't play his individual leagues until next month so he'll be competing against those players that do. Optimistically, he could get a 7 if he wins most of his PL matches.

well.. its .. okey..
