Anyway, since last week I haven't been able to access Google. I thought maybe it was a firefox problem, so I tried Chrome and IE and the errors continue. Sometimes I get a blank white page with no HTML in the source. Other times the connection times out, but the usual error is this:
"SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.
(Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)"
Since I can't access Google (or Yahoo search for some reason, though the front page and mail of Yahoo work fine) I can't look this up, and the Firefox Support page has no threads on the topic except the one I posted. What do you guys think the problem is?
A couple of weeks ago I had a trojan/virus. I ran anti-virus and a half-dozen anti-spyware/malware programs to deal with it and the trojan/virus was defeated. I thought perhaps the new anti-virus program I had running kept Google from showing up, uninstalled it, and came up with the same problem. Disabling SSL gives me the "SSL disabled" error. As I said, different browsers, all the same issue.
I'm not using a proxy. It isn't a firewall issue. All the other computers in the house can access Google just fine. What the heck?! Ideas greatly appreciated.
