PLEASE POST MUSIC/VIDEOS IN SPOILER TAGS
After years of wanting to create a thread about EDM but always feeling like I don't have enough material to warrant a thread of its own and shying away, I've finally decided to do it because I've seen that Teamliquid has some passionate people about EDM like myself as well.
Who am I and why should I get the honor of making this thread? Well I'm just an EDM addict like many but I did take a course in mixing (beat matching properly not just whack the crossfader across the mixer from channel A to B) at the hong kong DJ school. I've also been a follower of quite a bit of different EDM and know maybe a little bit. I say this because the realm of EDM is enormous and I may have only just scratched the surface, but I hope that the discussion and the coming together of us EDM fans will really sift out the gems of the best out there right now, the cream of the crop.
What is EDM, specifically trance, to me? I like most of the genres but trance is really the most amazing one. To me it's when you're listening to a particularly amazing track, hopefully used in the right time in a great set, and you feel the buildup, your hairs stand on end, your legs go limp, mouth half open and vision blurs. Then the chorus drops, and you feel so insignificant, lost in the moment, and you feel that there is something much larger at stake than just life as we know it. It can make me feel so many emotions: regret, fulfillment, longing heartache, sadness and happiness at the same time and that, melded with the next track coming up being flawlessly mixed into the previous track, the transition, is a delicious black hole of pergatory for a few seconds, then the bass of the next track booms in and a new feeling washes over my body. To me, that is trance, an incredible state of mind, of enjoyment.
So post in here anything EDM related. Festivals Gigs/shows Where to download EDM New releases DJs/Artists/Producers you like Tracks you like Software like ableton live/reason/final scratch Your own mixes/tracks Pics of your home setup you lucky bastard ...and anything else I might have missed
Hoping to see some real quality in here because I know there are EDM connoisseurs here on TL.
Artists I like in no particular order and from different genres: Above and Beyond Armin van Buuren Kyau vs Albert Way Out West Amon Tobin Coldcut Unkle Rob Dougan Noisia Bonobo Sasha Digweed Markus Schulz James Zabiela Satoshi Tomiie ... and many more but I don't want to clog this up too much.
A site that I like is Blentwell. A lot to choose from and lots of genres and they're all quite good.
Some all time favourite tracks just to start things off, different genres. PLEASE POST MUSIC/VIDEOS IN SPOILER TAGS
James Zabiela - Robophobia (Renaissance) If robots made tech house, I think it would be similar to this. + Show Spoiler +
Kyau vs Albert - Falling Anywhere Bright, uplifting, brilliant flourish of notes. + Show Spoiler +
Andy Blueman - Sea Tides (Energetic Mix) I am in space. Extremely powerful emotional track. + Show Spoiler +
Amon Tobin - Four Ton Mantis Mock classical meets a sampler king. Nice video too. + Show Spoiler +
Unkle - Lonely Soul Epic trip hop. Almost nine minutes of bittersweet bliss. + Show Spoiler +
Noisia - Exodus (instrumental) Solid Drum n Bass. + Show Spoiler +
Again, please post music in spoiler tags. Otherwise it's just a lot of clutter. Also if you can give a short description of the music it would be very helpful when browsing through a huge ass thread clicking on all the clips and such.
d(-_-)b TL here we go!

I've been getting into UK Hardcore as of late, I cant dish out any specific tracks but, especially with an MC it's quite fun to listen to. I'm not limited to hardcore in general but of any other EDM genre it is my favorite.
I will be attending the Creatures of the night party on the 10th of October. It's good to see some parties spring up as of late which I dont have to drive more than 150 miles to get there.

Nice shasta - I like "back to you" as well, the Aly and Fila remix.. very strong track there and amazing vocals ^ ^
nice thread too, btw! i'm glad ones finally been started and we can recognize other fellow trance-enthusiasts here =) I also learned how to mix when I was in Florida, I met up w/ a Dj that was studying music at Fullsail and he said he was alrdy a pretty well known Dj from the phillipenes and played at many diff. areas. He did have a pretty amazing set up, high quality decks, good mixer, and like a production quality switch board, w/ the dozens and dozens of knobs on it etc. he even had a little special effects peice too, to let u warp and drag some of the sounds in/out (hard to describe its usage) and he had like 2 big ole cases of vinyls etc.. was awesome =)
Here are a few of them.
Dj Tiesto's In search of Sunrise 6: ibiza Contact + Show Spoiler +
Dj Tiesto's In search of Sunrise 7: Asia Andy Duguid feat. Leah - Wasted (w/ intro from Banyan tree, called "feel the sun rise") totally beautiful and hypnotic!!! + Show Spoiler +
Dj Shah feat. Adrina Thorpe - back to you (aly & fila remix) + Show Spoiler +http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTCXifT-QJA&feature=player_embedded
really addictive trance beat and beautiful vocals..
Tydi feat. Audrey Gallagher - You walk away + Show Spoiler +
completely hypnotic vocals
3rd moon - Monsun (original mix, longer) + Show Spoiler +
1st heard from Armins ASOT 2K9 album and I loved it! Monsun and Miami vide were the 2 tracks I sampled when I decided, "thats it, I gotta get this album" and DL'd it on itunes the day it was available ^^
These are some of the tracks that I can be found jamming/raving to in most clubs that sadly, play the most popular rap tracks off the radio.. Thx god for ipods!
I'll post a few more here n there, cause I got a lot that I wanna post Njoy!

bleh im not into trance really i feel like its the smooth jazz of electronic music
you should try artists like mstrkrft, justice, fake blood, dafk punk, etc.

but ya, Armin van Buuren is like my hero atm.. he's been putting out so much music that i've been collecting and big props to his weekly A State of Trance, I been finding a good 2-3 tracks on each set that i've collected and added to my itunes..
Tiesto was my idol of Trance for a long time, I bought a lot of his "In search of Sunrise" albums, and they definately have a lot of good tracks on each.. 1 of my top 5 ALL TIME favorite would be Glenn Morrison - Contact. That track is soooo huge.. I can't believe it. One time I was in a club, rollin' to that, dancing to it alllll night... on repeat.. The intro for that one, Es vedra - La hacienda is also a great lead in to it, like "feel the sun rise" is for "wasted"
check 'em out
but other than those guys, I like a lot of the work from singular/team combos like Aly & Fila some Above & Beyond John O'callaghan Pulsedriver Phynn ATB George Acosta Paul Oakenfold (old school master) Sean Tyas Markus Schulz Pryda Gareth Emery Glenn Morrison tons yo.. tons..

ASOT reallly is quite awesome. Every week he puts out a 2hour show, that usually have a bunch of awesome tracks you can find later. Free to get at WeLoveaTrance.com too.
