just came back from Montreal's representation of Tiësto's new tour Kaleidoscope~
pretty much as I expected, he played ALL his classics (adagio, love comes again, just be, elements of life, in the dark, flight 643, traffic, he's a pirate, I forget the others oh god sorry early morning post) + some new singles (I will be here was the only one I could figure out, and I srsly QQ'd when some dude next to me said "omg I think that's armin van buuren's new single". like, wtf?) + some new/old stuff, mostly stuff that went under the radar due to 2008 hits and new stuff that came out in 09 but isn't well known.
also he was like "hello Montreal make noise ok? Now I play a song, in 1999 I come here and played it ok"

all in all 8/10 it's Tiësto, you just know he gets carried by his old hits he still makes people move. never seen people this excited about smoke and lights el oh el.
Sorry, but what did you think it was all about? :p
what? it wasn't a rave, it was a concert T_T I was next to like, 2 fat kids who left at midnight because their mom came to pick them up
and bought like, 2 plates of nachos and 3 cokes each. not even kidding t_t
but that was a good thing cause then I could dance el oh el

sick. i used to really like tiesto when i first started listenign to trance but dont know why dont really like him now hmph. but im sure it must have been a siick night ;D
well the thing is Tiësto pretty much had an era of dominance then he got a lot of good competition and just switched to mainstream to somewhat preserve his income. I mean once in a while he will release something great but at this point it's almost like pop trance (lol?)
he's still pretty good and all, but somehow I'm enclined to say if you've seen him once there's not really a reason to go see him again, there are better choices. I've seen him in August 08 and back then he was touring ISOS Asia and like, the lightshow was not much different tbh. I expected Kaleidoscope to be full of colors and flashing lights but that wasn't the dominant thing somehow.
then again, I wasn't in the state it was intended to be viewed in so I can't give an accurate review of how effective the lightshow is. I'll just say that when you're sober it's decent, but I preferred ISOS Asia's lightshow
Well, I was brought into EDM with trance (who wasn't ) but I still enjoy the occasional good trance song
Now, however, My real passion is Electro. I saw the guy a couple pages back claiming to like dirty electro. The songs he posted though....well, not dirty enough for me. too minimalist and empty
Here are some REALLY dense tracks: If you get bored easily, you might like them:
Ok, maybe somebody in here can help me out. I enjoy some trance/techno music, but not others and it's hard to find songs I enjoy that in the techno genre. I like songs with a heavy bass and buildup or a really sick melody, but a lot of trance songs (even in this thread) just seem to be generic beat for 5 minutes or so with no real climax.
Examples of songs I like:

Has a sick melody and has a good buildup. best remix of insomnia i think. + Show Spoiler +

Uh I am pretty sure everyone loves that song not just you. Here are some trance tracks that I still enjoy (I pretty much only listen to trance, not even into vocal trance) some of them are kind of old now like from 2008, but I think they are nice if you have not heard of them before.
Yes I know the songs I listed are all the "popular" ones and possibly overplayed, but they are popular for a reason
edit: Also I just recently ordered an Alessandro MS-1i as an improvement over my semi ok $50 headphones. Waiting for them to arrive, probably going to take about 1-2 weeks.
Some of my all time favourite Trance and progressive. If I have a bit more time I will post some more. Glad to see that there are people who enjoy EDM. I am the only one among my friends
