Hey,
I have trouble with BW getting really choppy during very "graphic-intense" times, i.e.
o microing goliaths vs carrier o anything vs carrier
This is probably a computer-related issue, but my laptop isn't that old (but tends to overheat)
I just touched the bottom of my laptop, and it is sick hot, so that is probably the issue. Any suggestions? One of those laptop fans that you put underneath the comp?

exalted!
Have you tried enabling CPU throttling?
|
i'll probably end up getting one of those laptop cooling pads
not sure what my choices are here in taiwan, fuck taiwan
can't even buy sour cream
i tried to make avocado dip yesterday, but the avocado was of a shitty quality, i didn't have sour cream so i used fucking yogurt, the store only had fat-free mayonnaise, it was a disaster

i have not at all, can you tell me more about this?
as a temporary solution, i have jammed small stacks of magic cards under my laptop to raise it about 1/2 inch

It was added in the latest patch, in game go to the Speed settings and it should be there. It makes an instant significant difference to the noise my PC makes when I enable it so it may be of some help.

how high should i elevate it? right now its only about 1/2 in, is that enough or should i make a tower out of it?
|
never even saw the cpu throttling option before - cool! just enabled it.
what exactly does it do?
|
It just stops BW from using 100% of remaining computing power like it was originally designed to do being from 1998 when they could use all the spare power they could get.
|
Hopefully that works, other wise it could be your comp

I have the exact same problem, so I stole one of my mum's cooling racks for her cooking, and my brother made a cardboard funnel with 2 computer fans inside it and jammed it up against the back vent of my laptop. It used to get laggy running all sorts of programs/games and now I can run wow at 30 fps. :D

I play SC on a desktop that can't even run the original Half-Life. I'm genuinely surprised that I can run War3 at medium settings. I'm pretty sure that his laptop's hardware isn't the reason he's getting shitty FPS.

Enable the cpu throttling and the problem will most likely go away since urlaptop wont be overheating. also make sure your laptop is at least set on a flat hard surface, elevating it a little cant hurt either.
|
Are you sure you aren't just having a panic attack at these "intense" moments? I know that is a problem for some pro players.
|
Yeah like everyone else said if the laptop is getting hot then it will chop, i seriously doubt you have a laptop running at <333mhz that will lag sc.

I still have a 13 year old 100mhz computer. The thing is, I need to find my spare monitor to plug it in, and there's no way to get it onto the internet.
Anyway, my laptop used to overheat a lot too. Just blow into the vents where the hot air come out, 1st time I tried that a lot of dust came out. Worked wonders.
