Hmm. I've been wondering what would be the ideal solution to face iccup slumps.
Some say that the player should just continue playing at his rank even though he's losing a lot. Lets say that a C player was at 4900, then suddenly dropped to 4100. Some people would say to keep going at it and try to get C+ this way. Its closer to 5000, and it'll take less games.
others believe that its better just to just reset, and clear the old leaf up, and its obvious that the dude's mindset about playing these C players at the moment is bad and lack confidence, so maybe after some noob raping at D/D+/C- he'd be more confident and play better. (NOTE: I do realize that iccup gets easier as time goes, but if the guy coulda gotten 4900 early, then getting it again shoudl be twice as easy if he's fresh.)
Poll: Reset or keep going? (Vote): Keep going you quitting scum (Vote): Wtf you thinking nerd reset!

I slumped last week, losing like 18 games out of 20. It was frustrating, but I took a break for two-three days, and then I was able to come back.
So keep going, but make sure you take a break!

Only reset if you drop two ranks (now that's slumping)
Like me :<

If your "slumping", just log off iccup or play some friendly games. Get back into the swing of things, then get back to it. I had a mean slump last season, going from 8100 B+ (first time ever), to 6200 B-. I didn't play for a week after that. -_-

you need to learn the power of nothingness. stats are nothing. losing is nothing. winning is nothing. c ranks are nothing. only after you master the power of nothingness then you will achieve higher ranks. higher ranks is nothing.

Gladstone you only made this blog cause I did!
Anyways I'd be interested in answers as well.. I've lost like 17 of my last 20 and it seems like I'm not playing well at all either..

I'm 20-47 right now.
You better not reset your stats T_T

It doesn't make any difference what your ladder stats are, they just make matchmaking fair. Don't cheat the system. You'll get to C+ when you get to C+.

lol maybe this is why i shouldn't be a poker player, becuase i always have the mindset of, "man i can't stop now i gotta get back to where i was ealier"

keep going, you quitting scum!

I wouldn't reset. You will just slow your progress. Gonna learn more when you lose then when you win... that's how I look at it. I always feel like if I can lose 20 in a row, then I can win the next 20 in a row based on what I learned .

Play another account for the meantime then once you've already "felt" that you're slump is gone that's the time you get back to you're main account.
Works well for me!
Edit: Suggest not to reset.

Like the losses are so insignificant, its like oops forgot to make a bunker, or oops bad attack, or oops late turrets all stupid shit that you cant learn from.

im slumping really hard right now. Today I lost to basically mass ling from every base on blue storm. The guy laughed at me and was like "are you really d+?"
i didnt have to heart to tell him i chill around C-...

Edit: Suggest not to reset. I agree with this. If your goal is to gain ranks, then you might as well keep the points you have and work off frustration playing on another acc than resetting.

You could just take a 2-3 day break and come back, it usually fixes my "slumps". Or you could just make another account and play a few games at D/D+ level and then come back.
|
Gladstone, don't pull a Yaqoob and reset
|
Create a new account and play 3 or 4 games. Then go back to your C level games. This way you don't quit but also get the feeling of stress free fun games.
Remember I hit b- early on and haven't played a game of broodwar until yesterday and then I started on a d account. I think confidence is more important then skill for ladder climbing and stablity.
