UpMaGiC: "Dropships were the key point of my strategy." "I produced up to 8 dropships in practice."
UpMaGiC defeated Horang2, who had earlier defeated NaDa, to advance into the Round of 16 of the Avalon MSL.
The following is the interview with UpMaGiC.
- Your thoughts on advancing into the Round of 16? ▲ I managed to advance so I'm happy. I told myself to play the game at ease and that it was okay even if I didn't make it before the start of the game. I told myself that if I get eliminated from this MSL and end up without much to do, I'll still be able to enjoy my life, and if I do manage to advance, I'll put in my all for this season.
- Horang2 played an impressive game in the losers' match to get into the final match. ▲ I was impressed. I like strategic plays, and seeing a Protoss play strategically made it much more interesting to watch. Seeing other people play in such a style felt refreshing. It left a deep impression on me.
- Who did you want to face in the final match? ▲ I wanted to play against NaDa. I've always like him so I wanted to play against him. Also, even if he were to lose while playing against me, he wouldn't drop until the offline preliminaries, so I really hoped that he could make it into the final match.
- Horang2 went for a hidden expansion. ▲ I only realised that after he had mined out completely from the hidden expansion. When my SCV went to scout early on, I felt something wasn't right so I continued scouting here and there, but I could not see any expansion. So I thought he was just playing slower than other players, but as the game progressed, he stood firm against me so I was slightly taken aback. But I was able to win in the end because of my confidence.
- You used mass dropships. ▲ There wasn't any special reason. Other players I practiced with also used mass dropships so I just followed, by my opponent didn't use any shuttles so I kept on building dropships. The key point to my strategy today was getting a large number of dropships. I have even gotten up to 8 dropships once during practice.
- You will be facing EffOrt next in the Round of 16. ▲ In the past, I wouldn't be confident but now, his winning streak has ended so I think I have a chanc. I think I'll have to rack my brains a bit as I prepare for the game. If I focus too much on my opponent, my games won't turn out so well, so I just have to play my best.
- Any final words? ▲ The Proleague is the most important league, but our team can't make it into the playoffs, so if I wasn't able to qualify for the Round of 16 today, I might have had nothing to do at all. That is why I will work hard to produce interesting games.
Jaedong: "I played a really tough match." "I have been very tired lately, but I'm trying to keep that under control."
'The Destroyer' Jaedong defeated Leta and Movie to advance into the Round of 16 of the Avalon MSL.
The following is the interview with Jaedong.
- You advanced 2-1 into the Round of 16. ▲ I am very tired. My stamina has been low lately, so it was very physically demanding for me today, as today's games were very tough. But because I played such a tough game to advance, I feel slightly proud.
- You must have been very disappointed with your previous loss to Movie. ▲ I was highly confident, so the loss came to me as a surprise. I lost so helplessly so I was very disappointed in myself. It reminded me of my previous elimination from the Round of 32. That is why I swore to myself that I would win in the losers' match today.
- Were you well prepared for Leta's wraith-mnm build? ▲ Everyone's been using that build lately, so I didn't find it scary at all. I think that my team's Lomo has the best wraith micro, and through practice with him, I was well prepared. Of course, I practiced with accordance to Leta's play style but I was already familiar with facing this build from a long time ago, so I was able to win with much more ease.
- How did you prepare yourself? ▲ I couldn't practice that much. Lomo helped me with practice, but it wasn't a lot. I thought of strategies, and Lomo and HiyA helped me with practice by playing like Leta.
- You have been playing a lot of games recently. Is there anything you are having trouble with? ▲ After playing a game, I can't cut any slack and have to practice for my next game straightaway. Playing like this for an entire season is making me awfully tired, but I believe that any good player will be able to recover from this, and I am now trying to keep this under control.
- You will be facing Kal in the Round of 16. ▲ I have not thought about who I'll be facing next, so there's nothing much I can say. I will be facing so a Protoss next, so I believe that I have to clear that obstacle at all cost. I will work on my weakness that is ZvP in this Round of 16 and clear away all bad memories of me facing Protosses in the MSL in the past.
- Any final words? ▲ My schedule has been so packed lately, it feels as though I'm playing a (broadcasted) match every day. I am always thankful to my fans who come down to support me on-site, and now that there is only a few matches left for me to play, I will focus hard for this season and play 200% of my capabilities so as not to show the weak side of me. I hope everyone can stay with me towards the end.
Was doing another interview, but I have to go out soon and didn't think that I'll have enough time to translate that one. Instead, I translate this. Enjoy, feedback and corrections welcome!
wow upmagic wished he played nada, everybody likes nada And JD showing signs of being human? I really hoped he would do the impossible and win the osl, msl and gom. I hope he doesnt get too tired out.
I hope Jaedong drops out from GOM. It's no shame to lose to effort anyway! I want to see angry Jaedong in the OSL/MSL, not tiredong. ): I don't know. It could be me but lately it seems that Jaedong's been having to win against hard counters by his sheer will. I remember, in his last real slump, his judgment seemed way off as well. Come on Jaedong, you seem to be near the crest of your powers yet you still demand more out of yourself. I believe!
Poor Jaedong sounds exhausted. His schedule is so intense right now. What a week of hell --- facing STX, Violet, Much, Flash, Leta, and Movie back to back. Only a player of his calibur could have come out of this week with straight wins.
I sure hope he doesn't burn out now. With a spot in every league, he could well earn a gold before the season is out, as long as he doesn't pull a Flash and make simultaneous exits from everything at once. I expect that he will win whichever tournament gives him the most forgiving bracket.
Jaedong has an impossible play schedule right now carrying his team while simultaneously qualifying and advancing in three individual leagues. Burnout is more likely to stop him than any opponent.
goddamn it I really wish he had dropped out of the MSL
three fucking leagues and carrying your team into proleague finals? its not possible. Can you imagine how fucking locked that Golden Mouse would be if all he had to practice for was OSL? No MSL, no GOM, No proleague - Just play every OSL game at his peak. He would be a near guaranteed Golden Mouse winner.
Instead hes gonna try for it all. I hope he makes it, but goddamn.
You would think that considering that Oz is in first place, the coach could give Jaedong a little break and not send him out twice a night every night. Other teams give their lesser players a shot once in a while, but the Oz coach seems intent on burning out Jaedong.

He has no choice but to burn out Jaedong :p
He has a choice. He could send out someone else and settle for finishing in second place for Proleague.
Given the lack of depth of the Hwaseung team, they'll have a tough time winning one Bo7 series, let alone two. They really want to end up in first place to get that ticket straight to the Grand Finals.
Go for it Jaedong! Take it all. I really hope to sse him go god mode and rampage trough all leagues. Btw , is there any player favored over JD in a BO3?

I don't see a difference between not playing 3 games in the next two weeks but having to prepare for an extra Bo7 later in the month. His schedule is so much loose now compare to the hell week he had. So basically, either way is the same, but Hwaseung definitely has a better chance by only playing one Bo7.
Fomos is down? Can't see tired JD pic, hard to show maximum sympathy =[.
if u look at their lineup its almost always jaedong lomo hiya and backho and either one player changes and thats it, its always nearly the same. he really needs more rest

Jaedong is tired... its time for piratezerg and ozsuckballswitouthme.
Poor Jd I really think that he needs to drop from MSL cus its just inferior to OSL and GOM (now cus Gom gives more money and direct clasificaction to Blizzcon.) Lets hope that he gives priority to the OSL and not the MSL.
