im in beijing. i hung out with riptide here a week ago. i hope you guys can meet up.
|
i'm in shanghai too for a summer job, will be here through august. what are you guys planning on doing?
|
I was just in Shanghai last weekend, too bad
The weather there was absolutely terrible though. The temperature wasn't much worse than in Beijing, but the humidity was insane. I wonder why, because last year I was there around the same time and it didn't feel too bad then. Anyway, hope you guys aren't as bothered by the weather as I was. Should be a good time if you aren't.

i'll send u an SMS haha. I've been here for a week and i'm here though mid August.
Don't really know to many people here who are under the age of 35 (all westerners) so i'm looking to get someone my age to hit some bars/clubs with

I'll send you and SMS too, pyrogenetix. i'm sort of way out in bumblefuck pudong though, near yunshan road line 6. probably won't be in interesting parts of the city except for the weekends

I'm in the Jing An district. i'm within walking distance to the shanghai center, aka the portaman. the shanghai center is on Nanjing Lu and there is everything on this street. If you say por-ta-man to any taxi driver around here he will know where to go.
Nanjing Lu runs all the way down to the Bund (where all those famous riverside pictures are taken of Shanghai) so it's really easy to find. If you can grab yourself a map we can agree on a cross-street of Nanjing Lu and meet there. I was told that there is a really cool market on Nanjing Lu with the street address 748 Nanjing Lu, but I really have no clue where it is in relation to the shanghai center other than that it's east of it. I've heard of a few clubs around the shanghai center that are frequented by a lot of younger folks like us, so if you want to explore those later we definitely can.
You said you know the subway lines which is good cause there are an almost infinite amount of terminals all over Nanjing Lu so it should be easy to find.

well i'm looking at a metro map and it looks like Line 2 basically runs underneath Nanjing Lu, and has a bunch of stops on it. The one i am most familiar with/know how to get to, is the Jing An temple stop. the shanghai center is just a short walk away from that and we can explore from there.

nanjing road is cool for like a day or two, but it's kind of touristy. if you guys are gonna be there tonight you should check out the fried dumpling place on wujiang road. you can get there from the #3 exit from the west nanjing road metro station on line 2. that place has the fucking best fried dumplings.
