She's half Korean, half Brazilian and is one of my favorite female singer-songwriters. Her music is really quite simple acoustic stuff with hooks, but has a nice East-coast rootsy feel that keeps it really listenable imo. She's sort of in the laid-back vein of Norah Jones, just to give you an idea of whether you'll like/hate/notcare. She also sounds really good live.
One of my good friends was like absolutely in love with her haha. It's actually a pretty good time for Asian English speaking artists right now, other people including David Choi, and my personal favorite
she doesn't use a pick actually, fingerpicking only.
Ironically, I don't find her that "hot" per se. She's definitely pretty, but she rarely plays it up in a glamorous sort of way. I just think she has an expressive and amazingly clear voice, and she definitely has a serene charm about her. And of course, writing your own songs is always plus points. I also like that she worked her way to a record deal the old fashioned way...by playing at a bunch of coffee shops and open mics.
