i just came back from the weekend trip back home. i went back because i wanted to reconcile with my dad and hang with returning friends. To get back to my place, i need to take a train to LA Union station and then take another to a station close to where i live. i missed the train i was supposed to take, therefore missing the second one as well. So i was stuck at union for about 2 hours when i saw my dad come up in the car. immediately i thought and said out loud, "oh shit".
I got in, said hello and we got back on the freeway and there was an awkward silence for about 5 minutes. Then he starts off saying that we both did wrong and i pulled some research out for him. Shit was settled. Then we start joking around and he turns on the radio which led us right to the shitstorm of Roh Moo Hyun killing himself. That just killed the good mood we were in. He was also dressed in a suit, which puzzled me. He then filled me in on the situation.
Last September, my dad drops of my brother off at school and is going home when some kid jaywalking kid walks in front of the car. Of course, dad hits him and thats a shitstorm to come. Kid gets carted off to hospital, which is ironic because he played football and got out of the ER last night. From what i remember, the kid was ok with it. It was his fault he was jaywalking and dad really couldn't see him because of the glare of the sun and he couldn't even stop anyway in a no stop zone because then the goddamn school cop would write him up. Now 9 months later, that kid's family is suing my dad for half a million saying that because the kid sprained his knee in the accident, he had to quit football losing his chance to go to "college".
This i found hilarious because they weren't suing because of the bruising or anything done by the car but rather a sprained knee. A SPRAINED KNEE! The knee wasn't broken or shattered or shot to shit, SPRAINED! According to doctor, sprained = can be healed. This kid has to be real emo and depressed about life to quit football on a sprained knee and then be a punk bitch pussy to try to get some money out of his mistake. And for fucks sake, missing out on college? Its not like he was an All American "I am Kobe of High School Football" shit. The purpose of college is "Higher Education," not a fucking income source. Any dumbass can apply and get accepted into a UC school. My school UCR and UC Merced literally takes all the rejects of the other UC's (Los Angeles, San Diego, Berkeley, and the others). It shouldn't be too hard to think of a personal statement and write down an application. But no, this punkbitch has to cry about his decision to quit football on a healable injury and wants some money either because he's retarded to think of this 9 months after it happened or peer pressure. If he wants a fucking sob story, he can go to Oprah.
So, after all that bullshit, i doubt this will go to trial because my dad was represented by State Farm's attorneys, which i assume are very good because they're an insurance company. All in all, we had a good laugh over some homemade alchohol my grandma made (her shit is amazing). All was good until Kim Jong Il started this bullshit, which caused a shitstorm of phone calls from back home.
Anyways, i want to thank lilsusie and others for providing a useful solution to my problem. I also want to thank the others readers who thought "douchecanoe" was hilarious, especially Kau for posting it in this weeks pony express. oh and Rayzorblade, i just might take you up on that offer.

Oh well, good you and your dad are tight again, family is forever man.

Good luck with the trial. You might be able to suggest a game of starcraft to see how the trial works(whoever wins the game wins the trial)

You'll prolly be straight, and State Farm will deal with the thing themselves. But, if you don't have it already, take this as an example of while you get a damn good and large umbrella policy (even moreso if you've got your own business).

yea missing the train sucks.... I was trying to get back to iowa state from texas where a plane ticket to the closest airports would cost 600$ one way... so instead i took a 100 dollar plane flight to minneapolis then had a greyhound bus back to school. Well my dad gave me bad directions so i ended up walking an hour outside in 10 degree weather trudging through snow before I got to the station... Last bus had left till the next day, so needless to say, I ended up staying up all night at a fancy hotel in downtown Minneapolis :D.
Without getting in to my personal sob story... my family life is the kind that ends up on some crappy daytime show. So don't worry about the prick who is suing your dad... the insurance company deals with stupid cases like that all the time. A horse bit a lady in the boob at a state fair show my mom was a part of. A year later the lady tries to sue and gets nothing. Bad economy = desperate people taking desperate actions.

Why were you mad at your dad and what research did you pull out? I'm confused
But that football player and their family are pretty lame, suing your dad like 9 months later is sorta late. And Kobe played basketball :D
